Emergency Department Technician

Working with physicians and specialty team members to deliver physical and psychological support to

patients and their family members. Work directly under Registered Nurse and Physicians to complete designated tasks and deliver qualitative patient care to ensure a positive patient outcome. Participate in

staff meetings, in-services, and professional development activities to maintain updated professional and technical knowledge.

Key accomplishments

Assess patient’s condition and report pertinent data to Registered Nurse, supervisor, or appropriate provider; initiate care according to evidence-based policies and guidelines

Work closely with a Registered Nurse to create appropriate nursing care plan, implement the nursing care plan, and engage in patient education, identify life-threatening situations, anticipate patients needs.

Take and record vital signs, administer oxygen therapies, monitor ECG and 12-lead EKS’s, preform C-spine immobilization, insert and remove foley catheters, preform BLS airway management, provide wound and burn care using aseptic technique.

Assist Registered Nurse, Physicians and surgeons in procedure set up, specimen collection, diagnostic procedures and operate medical equipment including cardiac monitor and defibrillator.

Respond to emergency situations, assess situations, and provide appropriate emergency care in compliance with hospital and state guidelines.

Selected by management to participate on a Behavioral Health Taskforce to design and develop

policies procedures for the opening of a 2.3M 12-bed behavioral health unit, resulting in the decrease

of assaults on staff, chemical and physical restraint, and overall length of stay.
