Senior Technical Support Engineer (1998 – 2000), Rogue Wave Software, Inc., Boulder, CO

These jobs were similar to one another, though each centered on a different proprietary software product. Responsible for investigating and resolving complex technical issues with the Horizon Clinicals electronic health records system (McKesson), online query/search applications (Requisite), and database query tools for software developers (Rogue Wave).

Worked primarily with Oracle databases and Linux operating systems. Wrote internal and customer-facing documentation of complex technical issues, problems, and solutions; submitted information and potential solutions to Development organization and worked with them to design and deliver final resolution of customers' technical issues; occasionally conducted training and informational sessions for peers; communicated with customers frequently and timely, both in writing and on the phone; usually worked independently with little supervision, but often consulted and coordinated with and assisted peers to achieve the best and most timely resolution of urgent and complex customer issues; handled a heavy caseload efficiently, fulfilling all obligations and time deadlines while achieving excellent customer success and satisfaction.

McKesson in particular required very detailed, in-depth, and thorough investigation of technical issues. Patient safety depended on careful and precise handling of patient data and system functionality. I formed strong partnerships and solid trust relationships with internal colleagues as well as external customers, which facilitated and optimized the resolution of complex problems.

McKesson also required annual HIPAA training and strict confidentiality of the protected health information that I worked with daily.
