As the first to comprehensively delineate the neonatal transport services in Canada, my published paper in 2019, has raised more intriguing questions than it did for answers. There is very little knowledge in literature regarding neonatal transport. Questions still to be addressed for potential future work include but not limited to:
Do outborn really have worse outcomes compared to inborn?
What would be the best potential practices in regard to team model and composition?
Can transport metrics: transport time, arrival time, stabilization time, response time and total time, be used as indicators for outcomes and/or evaluate the team
performance?
I’ve commenced on gathering the literature then registered on PROSPERO for Systematic Review to address the first question. Will collaboratively work with Canadian Neonatal Transport Network (CNTN) director, Dr Kyong S Lee. In progress.
Career Exemplary Achievements
Established Neonatal Transport Fellowship in University of Calgary: Together with Dr Sumesh Thomas, a Staff Neonatologist, we worked on establishing a recognized Fellowship of Neonatal Transport Medicine. We proposed official business case and granted approval from the University. Being the first fellow of Neonatal Transport in Calgary is an honor.
Established a Targeted Neonatal Echo (TNE) Service in Horizon- Moncton Hospital: When I first joined Horizon, there were no TNE services available. I drafted and finalized a business case and presented to stakeholders to buy an Echo machine. In less than 4 months, I was able to get the approval and buy a cutting-edge technology, the most advanced US machine with 3 neonatal probes, for TNE, head US and vascular access. This service has improved the quality of patientcare we provide to our neonatal population. Courses, Licensures & Skills:
