Degree : Ph. D
Title of Thesis : One Dimensional Combustion Acoustics.
Abstract : This thesis consists of theoretical and experimental studies of
Combustion - Acoustics - Interactions in One-Dimensional Tubes.
A first order study theoretically predicts optimum zone locations.
A good estimate of frequencies of RIJKE type of Combustor is
Obtained.
Second order study gives information on conditions under which an
Energy source/sink becomes an acoustic source/sink. It shows that
Entropy oscillations are very critical for a heat source to become an
Acoustic source/sink. It shows that entropy oscillations are very
critical for a heat source to become an acoustic sour/sink.
The experimental works involve a study of RIJKE combustor in
detail using anemometer and microphones, it involves. Measurement
of acoustic energy at different stations.
Comparisons of heat transfer performance for steady and oscillatory modes.
Fabrications of high performance RIJKE type practical coal burning combustor, which was tested for combustion and system efficiencies.
Academic Experience :
My Ph. D thesis work mainly related to unsteady fluid dynamics, heat transfer, acoustics and combustion. In particularly my research topics has been “One Dimensional combustion Acoustics and its Effects on Heat Transfer and Combustion Efficiencies”. I have research experience in both experimental and analytical techniques, experimental techniques includes use of thermocouples anemometer furnace microphone and gas chromatogram etc.
Also I have sufficient capability to handle independently research, teaching programs and developmental projects.
