PROJECTS
JANUARY 2021 – MAY 2021
ALL TERRAIN MANIPULATOR FOR ORGANIZED SAMPLE PREPARATION AND HANDLING FOR EVALUATION OR RETURN TO EARTH (ATMOSPHERE)
ROBOTICS AND SYSTEMS ENGINEERING INTERN – MARTIAN SKY INDUSTRIES ATMOSPHERE is designed as an all-terrain vehicle capable of gathering samples on other celestial bodies. This includes hardware designed to effectively gather representative specimens that can be assessed by intravehicular sensors or housed and returned to a target launch site for a return mission. The focus of the project is on a validation of the manipulation component through test with a basic design of the system that shows the technical fidelity equivalent to a Technology Readiness Level (TRL) 2 technology. The basis for this topic aligns with a NASA topic in the SBIR/STTR 2021 Phase I solicitation under Focus Area 4 Robotic Systems for Space Exploration under the topic S4.02 Robotic Mobility, Manipulation and Sampling. This topic is directly relevant to NASA’s planned off-earth scientific studies. RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Gain full understanding of system layout and subsystem interaction.
- Verify that subsystem interaction and overall design meet feasible criteria present in modern technology.
- Implement and test of robotic manipulator.
- Robotic path planning.
- Programing and analyzing sensing data.
SEPTEMBER 2018 - PRESENT
MAGNETIC X WIRELESS CHARGING PHONE CASE
CO-FOUNDER AND PROJECT MANAGER
Magnetic X is a phone charging case that uses Faraday’s magnetic induction theory to charge the case as it moves in multiple orientations. This product is being developed by a team of John Carroll students from different majors and will provide an untraditional source of electrical energy that supplies the phone through a wireless charging pad. The project is in an early development phase.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Design and structure.
- Integration of electrical and mechanical systems.
- Finding innovative solutions to design obstacles.
- Testing, troubleshooting, and optimization.
- Finding the physics needed for the project.
