I was employed as the Security Manager on the largest exploration, production and development Oil field in North Iraq. My responsibilities as directed as part of the security provider company (GardaWorld) to support TTOPCO in the security and safety of 200 expatriate Staff and 220 strong guard force, including their movements around hostile areas and movement in and out of country and management of resources to support their arrivals in Iraq.
Due to my lead auditor qualifications, I was a key contributor to Gardaworld receiving Certification in ISO 9001, 14001 along with OSHA 18000. I was employed with ExxonMobil on their West Qurna 1 oil field, Basra Iraq as the HSSE security technical lead for their Field Operations Division. My main responsibilities were ensuring the successful running of the security department for the project within such an environment. I was employed firstly for 6 months at Sugarland Texas as HSSE Technical Lead for EM as the advisor for their EPC. I constantly developed operational procedures. I implemented induction and safety training for all site visitors and conducted safety briefings on rig moves. My security duties included the implementation of CCTV, intruder alarm systems, & defence positions.
Senior Team Leader Control Risks Group Baghdad & Kirkuk Iraq. Dec 2003 to Dec 2007
My security Management & risk & threat assessment skills assisted greatly in my role as Senior Team Leader of personal protection teams based in Iraq supporting the British Embassy. My role consisted of the coordinating risk & threat management submission & the daily planning & recces of all movements. I organised & provided all necessary administration needs, Intelligence gathering & briefings for the movements & the tracking of all vehicles carrying Diplomats from the Foreign & Commonwealth Office (FCO). These included British high-ranking dignitaries visiting from the UK whose security teams from UK came under our control & command for liaison. I had a very close working relationship with the Iraqi Special Intelligence Unit (Asaish) that assisted greatly in the smooth operational daily function of the Embassy Office. I coordinated all team training & ensured the team worked at a high professional standard at all times. I deployed on all movements around Iraq acting as the Team leader & personal security consultant to the Consul General. I was actively involved in the relocation of the Embassy Office & the design & set up of the security site for the location, including, manning, security risk & threat assessments, contingency planning & liaising with supporting agencies.
Kent Police Force Specialised Tactical Firearms Unit UK 1996 to 2003
I have had a good variety of work within the Police Force, including 4 years on a Tactical Training Firearms Unit. The duties during that period were, 24 hour armed protection for Members of Parliament at their residences in UK, armed escort of Cat A violent prisoners & also armed response to any Firearms or Terrorist incident within the County. We also had a responsibility to carry out Armed Intervention to persons held against their will. Tactically deployed to manage and secure British Ports and the International Channel Tunnel in Kent
