MAIN PROJECT

FINITE ELEMENT ANALYSIS OF CRANK SHAFT OF MULTI CYLINDER ENGINE Duration: January 2019 to February 2019

Crankshaft is one of the most important moving parts in internal combustion engine. Crankshaft is a large component with a complex geometry in the engine, which converts the reciprocating displacement of the piston into a rotary motion.

This study was conducted on a single cylinder 4- stroke diesel engine. It must be strong enough to take the downward force during power stroke without excessive bending. So the reliability and life of internal combustion engine depend on the strength of the crankshaft largely.

The objective of the present work is the static and Fatigue analysis of a crank shaft made of Aluminum Alloy reinforced with 10 percent Silicon carbide (Sic). In this paper the material structural steel of crank shaft is replaced with developed Aluminum silicon carbide material for the actual specification of vehicles. The model of crank shaft is created in CATIA V5 and imported in ANSYS 14.5 workbench for Static and Fatigue analysis.

All these parameters are also found analytically and compared with results of FEA. MINI PROJECT

Design and fabrication of 4-cylinder Diesel Engine using Rapid Prototyping and 3D Modelling Duration : September 2018 to November 2018

In rapid prototyping, the term “rapid” is relative; it aims at the automated step from CAD data to machine, rather than at the speed of the techniques. Depending on the dimensions of the object, production times can be as long as a few days, especially with complex parts or when long cooling times are required.

The referred engine will be one of a kind, which is to say that only one (perhaps a few) engine(s) will be built. Therefore the development of such an engine is completely different from the more conventional engine design.

The engine however consists of various parts and each of the parts have to be designed and should be tested. In real world this will be expensive so to reduce the coat and time a prototype of the same engine is made and tested so as to reduce the failure of the original engine in this way the engine prototype will be made.
