Mechanical Design Trainee

L&T’s Rubber Processing Machinery business manufactures and markets rubber processing machinery for the global Tyre and rubber industry. Uni-stage TBM(ZEUS): It is a latest Tire Building Machine for manufacturing motorcycle tires with combined first & second stage process. Input material : Rubber Ply & Tread ; Output: Green tire. Customer: Continental Tires, Germany.

Role: Created, developed and adapted design concepts based on inputs from the customers and engineers using advanced design tools and techniques. Selection of OEM parts for its application. Batch-Off Cooling Station: Batch-off system is to dip the rubber sheet from the mixing mill into a tank filled with anti-adhesive agent, dry it, and then cool it to approximately 5 C above room temperature. Customer: Cooper Tires, USA.

Role: Produced accurate engineering 2D drawings and 3D models, which include details, layout drawings and stack ups from verbal or written instructions. I contributed responsible role in design, manufacturing, testing and packing phase of this machine. EV2+ MIC Peacock: The 1st Stage TBM is equipped with active guiding systems for all the rubber components, automatic cutting and application systems, advanced control and supervision system with touch screen computer interface and advanced receipt management.

Role: Supported the CAD based design of new or existing products through the skilled use of CAD languages such as Creo Parametric 4.0, SolidWorks and Auto Cad. Completes basic to moderate level Design Engineering assignments by following prescribed procedures.

Others: Responsible for updating products design and drawings according to external and internal needs. Knowledge about other Tire Building Machines such as Batch Off (Cooling Station) Customer: Cooper Tyres and OTR (Off the Road tyres - Second Stage) Customer: Ceat Tyres.
