Dissertation abstract

Most of what we know and study in polymer technology is nowadays very much attractive between many researchers around the world. Polymers such as epoxies are having very good properties and their applications over the industries are highly appreciable. Solvent-borne epoxy having very good mechanical and thermal properties, owing to this reason their application over many sectors are nowadays enhanced remarkably. Although, the major issue is evaporation of volatile organic compounds while using the solvent-borne epoxy, which leads to very dangerous health issues for living beings as well as our earth. This is why the researchers are more curious about finding the good alternative material for the replacement of solvent-borne epoxy. In this case, waterborne epoxy will become very good replacement for the solvent-borne epoxy. Though, the mechanical and thermal properties of waterborne epoxy are not same as solvent-borne epoxy and also lot of micro-pores formation during evaporation while using waterborne epoxy. To overcome this issue and make more reliable upon the utilization of waterborne epoxy in many sectors, here we have focused to enhance the mechanical and thermal properties of waterborne epoxy through the incorporation of graphene based nanocomposites. We have successfully synthesized water dispersible magnetite graphene oxide, silane modified zinc and nickel double layered hydroxides, Zirconium phosphate modified graphene oxide and cellulose Nanocrystals modified graphene oxide nanocomposites to incorporate into the waterborne epoxy matrix to enhance the mechanical and thermal properties. Our major scope and aim is to achieve very good mechanical and thermal properties of waterborne epoxy and it will become the suitable replacement of solvent-borne epoxy. Through our research findings, the incorporation of graphene based nanocomposites can be enhanced remarkable mechanical and thermal properties of waterborne epoxy due to excellent interfacial interaction between the incorporated fillers and epoxy matrix system through covalent bonding formation. 2017-2020 Fujian Institute of Research on the Structure of Matters, Research Doctorate under direction of Prof.Lixin Wu

Dissertation work described above. We focus our research on the study of better compatibility analysis of waterborne epoxy utilization in the industries through the enhancement of waterborne epoxy mechanical and thermal properties. We achieved our aim through the incorporation of as-synthesized graphene oxide nanocomposites into the waterborne epoxy matrix. We have been published our works with high impact factor journals.

2011-2013 Anna University, Chennai, TamilNadu, India, Masters Degree under supervision of Dr J Jayapriya

We have been focused to avoid the soil pollution which caused by the spilling of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons in the petroleum industries. To remove the dangerous chemicals spilling here we have utilized micro-organisms assisted bioremediation process. Our major focus of this research work was to save our earth from the dangerous chemicals spilling, we have achieved our aim, and the work has been published with high impact journal as well.
