ACADEMIC PROJECTS EXPERIENCE:

Bioinformatics Computing Lab Project: Jan 2018 – May 2018

Introduced to Python as a statistical analysis software and to its applications in bioinformatics. Concepts applied included:

Python text manipulation

Reading and writing files

Generating functions, lists, and loops in Python

Using conditions, regular expressions, and creating dictionaries in Python

Applied Python: Finding sequence similarity, Web interactions, Large datasets and Tree structures, and web application.

Business of Biotechnology Presentations: November 2019

SMRT Sequencing and its applications: Developed a deeper understanding of this topic and have made and given a 15 min presentation in class. https://prezi.com/view/IWc76zF0ABi43smU2aRa/

LOCUS BIOSCIENCES – CRISPR Cas-3 Bacteriophage platform Technology: Have thoroughly researched on CRISPR technology and have made and given a 15 min presentation in class.

Working with Data sets: Jan 2020 –May 2020

Given a data set, found out which gene has the most disease associations using Python.

Found out what genes have similar disease annotations to a specific gene (Defined "similar" as Jaccard > 0.25)

Coded to find out how many genes do not have high disease annotation similarity against any other gene? (Defined “high similarity” as Jaccard > 0.5). Plotted a histogram of disease associations per gene in the full data set, did a scatter plot of DSI versus DPI for every gene. Analyzed the relationship of the two.

Created a Data Cube for the dataset using Python.

Social Endeavors (2016-18):

• Attended camps and participated in various outdoor activities as a Former cadet from 1(T) Girls Battalion with a “B” Certificate in the National Cadet Corps (NCC)

• Participant at the 8th Pink Ribbon Walk organized by a Breast Cancer Foundation (UBF) and The Association of Surgeons of India (Hyderabad, India)

•Volunteered as a note taker for the differently abled students at UNCC (Summer I, 2018).
