• Project Research Engineer at IIT Bombay (Aug 2020 – ongoing)
Project: High-fidelity numerical simulations of air flow induced by high-speed ceiling fans.
Thorough study of MHD turbulence flows of very high Reynolds number. 3D CAD model has been created in SolidWorks Software.
Four different RANS based turbulence models and a LES based sub-grid scale model has been tested.
Sliding mesh technique has been used to capture the temporal flow dynamics accurately and these calculations are first of its kind.
INTERNSHIP
• Honda Cars India Limited (June - July 2015)
Training in Manufacturing Division in press shop sub-department.
Detailed understanding on working principle of press shop.
Works in other sub-departments like Machine Maintenance and Die Maintenance. MAJOR PROJECTS
• CFD analysis of Air Delivery and acoustics in Ceiling Fans (July 2019 - June 2020)
(M. Tech Project, Guide: Prof. Abhilash J. Chandy)
Objective: To perform flow simulation and get air delivery and acoustics data of ceiling fan.
Thorough study of MHD turbulence flows of very high Reynolds number. 3D CAD model has been created in SolidWorks software.
ANSYS Fluent has been used to analyze of fluid flow and results and post-processing has been done to predict the results and establishing correlation with experimental data.
To perform acoustics simulation, Ffowcs Williams-Hawkings model has been used to get the sound pressure levels at two different locations with 32 receivers in the testing domain.
Multiple rotating frames method and sliding mesh technique has been used to capture the temporal flow dynamics.
• Performance study and Characteristics of Diesel Engine using Milk Scum oil (April 2015 - May 2016) as Bio-Diesel
(B. Tech Project, Guide: Prof. Chandan B.B.)
Bio-diesel is a cleaner fuel than petroleum diesel and an exact substitute for existing compression engines and it has properties similar to mineral diesel.
Prepared the scum oil by the Trans-Estrification process using potassium hydroxide as catalyst in the laboratory.
4-stroke Diesel engine testing rig was used with different blends of B10, B20 and B30.
Other tests like Viscosity, Density, Flash and Fire point were also performed. OTHER PROJECTS
• Numerical Simulation on Cryogenic Chill-Down Process (Feb - April 2019)
(Prof. Milind D. Atrey, Cryogenics engineering)
Used ANSYS Fluent to simulate the Chill-Down process in straight and helical tube.
Done detailed comparison of time taken for complete chill-down of straight and helical transfer lines.
Temperature and volume fraction contours were validated with the experimental data.
• Thermal Analysis of CPU (Feb - April 2019)
(Prof. Shankar Krishnan, Thermal Design of Electronic Equipments)
Theoretical and Simulation study of essential heat sources in CPU and the simulation was done in ANSYS Icepak.
Calculation of effectiveness of heat sink, the heat transfer coefficient and rate of heat dissipation through heat sink.
• Thermal Analysis of LED Lamp (Feb - April 2019)
(Prof. Shankar Krishnan, Thermal Design of Electronic Equipments)
Simulation on heat dissipation from a LED-lamp.
Laminar and steady state simulation has been performed for thermal analysis of LED lamp. SEMINARS
• Sabatier Reaction for Carbon-dioxide Methanation
Efficient production or recycling of life support consumables like oxygen, water from in-situ resources.
Ability to utilize the resources that are available on-site.
• Performance study and Characteristics of Diesel Engine using Milk Scum oil as Biodiesel
Thorough study on bio-diesel as it is an Alternative fuel derived from vegetable oil and animal fat have increasingly important due to decreasing petroleum resources and increase in pollution problems.
Biodiesel can be used in its pure form or can be blended with diesel to form different blends. TECHNICAL SKILLS
