Professional Experience

NP – Pre-Admission Testing - The Miriam Hospital - Providence, RI 05/2018 - Present

Assess Patients’ readiness for surgery from an Anesthesiology standpoint. This is done via thorough chart review, document collection, and patient assessments under the direction of the Anesthesia team. Duties require strong fluency with Epic-based Electronic Medical Record (EMR) software.

NP – Total Joint Center - The Miriam Hospital - Providence, RI 05/2018 – 05/2020

As a total joint NP, I provided care to patients following total hip, knee, and shoulder surgeries, starting from their immediate post-operative phase, ending with their discharge from the hospital.

In this role, under general supervision of the orthopedic surgeon and in collaboration with the clinical nursing staff, I was responsible for the development and evaluation of treatment plans for inpatients, detailing events in progress notes.

Assisted in the care and management of patients including but not limited to: admission history and physical, ongoing assessment and intervention, medication orders, and lab ordering/interpretation with changes to plan of care/treatment accordingly.

Requested consults and coordinated care between various specialty clinics, PT/OT, and case management.

Reviewed and implemented safe discharge to home or SNF, as needed. Ensured medication reconciliation and follow-up scheduled with surgeon.
