October 1987 – January 1993: Assistant Director (Plant Engineering) with National Productivity Council carrying out consultancy assignments in development of Maintenance Systems – Preventive and Predictive. Carried out condition monitoring plan for ONGC’s on-site drilling rigs and power plant. Designed maintenance manpower training system for Coal India Ltd. and manpower study for Dunlop India.

February 1984 – September 1987: Junior Manager with Steel Authority of India Ltd. (SAIL). Posted at its Indian Iron & Steel Co. Ltd., Burnpur unit in the Plates & Structural Shops for fabrication, erection and repair of steel structures (girders, columns, transfer cars, etc), fabrication of various machinery components (e.g., gearbox housings- originally cast) for replacement.

July 1983 – January 1984: Mechanical Engineer Trainee with Bridge & Roof Co. (I) Ltd., posted at its cement plant site at Hetauda, Nepal, in the maintenance of construction machinery.
