Y.E.S Teen Ambassador
YES! Program Saint Louis Science Center - St. Louis, MO August 2011 to August 2015
I represented the Agriculture component as a YES Teen Ambassador for a year and a half at the YES Program partnered with the Saint Louis Science Center along with also being the Environmental and Ecology component dealing wildlife, animal care (hands on) and informative research. Being a YES Teen Ambassador meant being second behind the supervisor in the component and providing and taking on leadership and leading the daily lessons. Our job was to take care of our component when it came to gardening, research, and reaching out towards locals within our community within the fall, and during summer we came up with agricultural activities and projects and going out to educate the community and young kids about healthy eating and food deserts, while growing, building and taking care of gardening and cooking back at our main location at the YES Program within the component. I’ve also participated in a community outreach program with the YES Program to design a healthy meal whilst using produce and products from one of our local food markets and won first place alongside with another coworker and two chefs who helped us along our journey.
