“Progressive Parkinson’s Disease-Like Progression Induced by Methamphetamine Self-Administration by Rats: Mitochondrial Involvement”

-Determined gaps in current knowledge regarding the link between methamphetamine use and Parkinson’s disease development. Focused on the role of mitochondrial function in the development of methamphetamine-induced behavioral sensitization and the progression of Parkinson’s disease in the brain and colons of these rats.

Graduate College PhD and Master’s Student Mentor 2015-Present

-Mentored PhD and Masters students on navigating graduate school. This involved giving advice on didactic courses, their research projects, potential career paths.

Graduate College Student Council (GCSC) Member 2016-2020

-As the treasurer, I managed the student council funds. I was responsible for generating the annual budget, approving event budgets and awarding scholarships and travel awards. I worked with the college financial manager, the university’s financial department and the university’s office of philanthropy to maintain and manage the student council funds.

-As professional development chair, I scheduled speakers for student council sponsored seminars and organized networking events for graduate students.

Rush University Graduate College Curriculum Committee Student Rep. 2018-2019

-Committee was tasked to generate a new curriculum for the Biomedical Sciences Doctorate Program that would reduce didactic courses and increase time for research and experiential learning opportunities like internships. The curriculum that was created by this committee has been approved at all levels and is now the current curriculum.
