As a Quality Control Inspector

As a Quality Control Inspector, it is my responsibility to perform inspection and supervision of Structural fabrication and

installation / erection activities, and to ensure that the works are carried out in the accordance with all the requirements and codes, standard and specification as stipulated concerning material grade, welding dimensional control, and visual appearance. Responsible in the inspection, evaluation and acceptance of on-going and completed works based on approved project procedures, specification and applicable working documents. Conduct in process of inspection, evaluation during layout, fit up, and weld mint during and after welding. Check welding equipment to be used and prepare reports. Assist in preparation of shop drawing. Conduct material Receiving Inspection; conduct final dimensional and visual inspection. Coordinate and assist client inspectors in the inspection of all on-going completed works. Preparation of all reports. As a Project Engineer

As a project engineer, it is my responsibility to work with the Project Manager and with the

Superintendent. Working with the Project Manager and Superintendent to develop site and shop utilization program. Study / Familiarize/Verify project specification preliminary drawings as prerequisite of the approved construction drawings stated on the materials client lists Establishing and Maintaining all project-engineering file relating to subcontract and bid-package records, plans, specification, charge, classification and as built drawing. Reviewing all customer schedules and preparing general schedule of value as coordinated with the project manager tested and approved by the customer .Initiate fabrication procedure tested and approved by the client Monitor progress of works order in coordination with shops project coordinator / supervisors as the impact of delayed/advanced activities and regarding the actual programs and productivity against planned. Evaluating sub-constructor payment requisition to actual work performed .and the estimating purchasing effort and the development of the various bid packages and the baseline construction and fabrication schedules.

As a Civil Engineer

As a civil engineer it is my responsibility to oversee various construction efforts in many different areas to ensure that structures are constructed in the safest, sturdiest manner. These responsibilities are a crucial part of the job and enable to engage various factors concerning a construction job which is to be completed the construction job every step of the way. Must also plan the construction project that will be taking place in conjunction with the results may found due to the analysis of the proposed project and at the end, the civil engineer must inspect the product to ensure that all rules, regulations and guidelines have been explicitly followed. A civil engineer is not only to inspect and analyze by itself but will go to the site location many times to ensure that the plan fits the location and vice versa and when have adequately analyzed the situation, will write detailed reports stating what is acceptable and what needs to be changed prior to beginning the project. Once these proposed changes have been made, the civil engineer will review the plans and project site once again to ensure that all changes have been made as required. A civil engineer is also the key contact person regarding the construction project in many cases. They will answer questions directed towards them by individuals involved with the construction project and the general public as well. Communication skills are also a good thing for civil engineers to possess and need to correspond with a wide array of individuals throughout their profession. They will have to deal with everyone from construction workers to corporations. Therefore, it is imperative that a civil engineer possesses above average communication skills as this will allow them to communicate effectively with individuals involved in the job. Civil engineers have a very important they are the people behind the scenes of construction jobs which result in important buildings and structures throughout one’s city or hometown. They ensure not only that the buildings are constructed in a proper fashion but an expedient one as well. Should problems arise, they are the ones who step in to take control and come up with possible solutions.

As a Construction Engineer

The prime task of a Construction Engineer is to coordinate the function of production planning and control, engineering section and, shop operation related to project; logistical supports as to equipment, tools, manpower; material procurement and delivery, quality control and others, to support the construction effort so that these basic responsibilities are meet:

1. The project is completed within the allotted time. 2. The project is completed within the allotted budget man-hours and material cost. 3. That the project is engineered and constructed in accordance with the client specification, agreement of contractor with client and good engineering practice.

4. That as contractor’s contract with the client he performs the above activities to both parties satisfaction and in accordance with the contract. Detail Responsibilities:

1. Contract Award

The first action of the Construction Engineer upon project award is to organize a meeting among subordinates, production

planning and control, engineering section to examine bid and contract award documentation and correspondence.

Typical documents as follows:

1. Project data, client contract number, title, location, size, number, weight, and projection schedule and projection description.

2. Project personnel-key position with name, responsibility of both client and contractor personnel, line of communication and correspondence. 3. Scope of work – outlining action required by each detailed as necessary. 4. Material status / procurement requirements with client supplied 5. Planning.

6. Client supplied.

2. Correspondence

As a rule once a project has been awarded, all correspondence pertaining to project between contractors and client and

vice versa is directed to report to the manager exclusive to the project.. 3. Planning Scheduling

A preliminary detail fabrication program as prepared by production planning control: however the Construction Engineer

and his engineering staff shall receive the program, review and concur based on his experience. Normally the client is furnished with an “S” curve summarizing the fabrication and or erection program. The Construction Engineer must communicate direct with the client, copy furnished contractor management in any significant deviation from the program.

4. Drawings

The Construction Engineer will coordinate with the engineering department the schedule for receipt, review and

transmitting to concerned department. The supervisor and his staff receive the drawings with careful attention given to:

1. Adherence to specification.

2. Changes from bid drawings.

3. Format representation and accuracy

4. All construction drawing shall be review / accepted by the project engineering and shall be stamped / signed / approved by the project manager prior to transmittance to concerned department / client.

5. Budget Control

The Construction Engineer has the responsibility to ensure the project is completed within the budget, especially; he must

concern himself with man-hour expenditure and permanent material cost versus budget. After concurrence and approval of this fabrication / erection program, the man- hours and progress target are set. Through careful weekly monitoring of progress and man-hour result against the program, trends can be established and corrective coordinating and monitoring their activities.

6. Material

For client-supplied materials, the Construction Engineer will work with the material engineer assigned to the project to

ensure that the quoted delivery dates are meet. Where vendor’s representative or subcontractors are on site, he is responsible for coordinating and monitoring their activities.

7. Quality Controls

The quality control department reports directly to the project manager to maintain the integrity of the operation.

However, the Construction Engineer must ensure that they are fully briefed on their function on the function of the project and closely monitor the performance to maintain the finished job within agreed tolerance and specification. Resume of Arnold de Chavez Page 5 of 5

8. Project Meeting

The Construction Engineer is responsible for ensuring that all in-house project meeting between contractor and client at

whatever level are conducted and recorded for future reference and action. It is mandatory held on a regular basis, usually weekly. The meeting chaired with the project manager who will nominate attendees, and the minutes of the meeting are issued within 24 hours to all those attending meeting, head of the department and where relevant the client and contractor management. A typical agenda for an in-house meeting is as follows:

1. Matters arising from previous minutes.

2. Approval of previous minutes.

3. Planning-fabrication / erection program as basis for discussion assessment of progress.

4. Activities completed on progress noted over all manpower levels. 5. Fabrication progress over all percentage completion by activities. 6. Material Status.

7. Equipment Status.

8. Engineering-drawing status.

9. Commercial –contract obligation

9. Weekly Progress Report

The Construction Engineer will assist in the preparation and issue of weekly progress report to the client and to the

contractor management.

The report will contain among other:

1. Summary in narrative form.

2. Updated progress “S” curve.

3. Man-hour expenditure.

4. Status report.

5. Scheduling report.

6. Man-hour loading report.

7. Weather condition.

The Construction Engineer shall feel free to consult project manager with regards to representation expenses, sub-contract

jobs and rental of equipment and manpower hiring.

10. Safety

While it is true that safety is everybody’s business, the Construction Engineer will also give emphasis on safety aspect of

the project thru the yard safety officer and at all time implement contractor safety program as to equipment and tool utilization, handling of gas cylinder, accident prevention program, use safety shoes and / or as the condition warrant, safety glass, gloves, ear plugs, safety harness and the like for workmen position a 15 minutes safety meeting will be conducted. As project progress thru completion among engineers and key personnel of the project.
