This job required me to work at heights and long hours in outdoor elements. As well as working around moving equipment. This job required me to be physically, conditioned for outdoor elements and long hours, have good problem solving skills and good at math. I very much enjoyed my time being employed by Kelly. My employment with Kelly ended due to my relocation to Melita Manitoba at the end of 2009 for my interest in the oil and gas industry.
Eagle Well Servicing Estevan Saskatchewan
Floor Hand/ Derrick 2010 – 2012
During my employment with Eagle we had numerous responsibilities we had to fulfill. I was required to obtain and hold various safety tickets ( WHIMIS, TDG, first aid, H2S, confined space, Fall Arrest, rig rescue as well as class one driver’s license ) As an employee with Eagle I was required to possess and utilize many skills. I learned that your rig crew was much like a family, you needed to have good communication, the ability to work well with others, possess leadership skills, respect and trust the people on your crew. Your safety wasn’t just you own responsibility but, it was everyone’s responsibility as well. We all had families and we were all out there for the same reasons. I was required to know the equipment I was working with in order to properly perform daily safety checks on the tools and equipment we were working with. This job demanded long hours in extreme elements.
Pipeworx Acheson Alberta
General Laborer 2011 –2015
There were many duties we were responsible on completing in a work day. I was responsible to pick up crew members in the company work truck and assure everyone made it to work on time and in a safe manner. I was also responsible on maintaining records on the vehicle and alerting the superintendent of upcoming servicing that was needed.
While out on the R.O.W working I was responsible for my safety as well as the safety of others that were around our crew working. Always exercised clear communication and hand signals while working around heavy machinery. I was placed on numerous crews which included stringing, pipe gang, tie-ins, lowering in and clean up crew. I also have work experience doing dig ups and hot tie ins.
This job also required me to hold valid safety tickets to ensure my employment would not be terminated. We also had a blue card program to exercise the awareness of hazards that we would occur on a day to day basis. Especially working around all the pieces of heavy machinery.
Skills
I currently hold valid Class 1A driver’s license with a clean driving record.
As an individual I work well with others and possess strong leadership skills. I am mechanically inclined and possess very strong problem solving skills. I have attention for detail and take pride in my work. I follow direction and take criticism well. I have a very positive attitude and a very good sense of humor. I possess patients and enjoy teaching others the skills I have. I am very big on leading by example.
During the time have have put in working in the oil and gas industry, I have acquired a very firm belief in having respect for the people I work with or will work with in the oil field. We are all out there for the same reason: to give our families what we were raised on and a little more. We are all away from our loved ones for long periods of time, and it’s hard on a guy. We all will have good days and bad days. What sets us apart is the ones that help cover what is lacking from a fellow worker on a bad day. It’s a brotherhood.
LITTLE BIT ABOUT MYSELF:
Outside of work I also possess a lot of patients and enjoy helping others when they are in need. I have always enjoyed helping others. Whether it is a senior needed a hand with their lawn or a friend needing a hand with their kids. Always there to lend a hand.
I also have always been interested in getting involved in the health care area when I decide I am ready. I would like to become a massage therapist and eventually have my own home based business so I can be home for my family more as their needs increase as they get older and more involved in their activities.
I have worked in restaurants and hotels in the past as well. I have been presently employed by surgrow in Portage la Prairie. I was hired to drive truck, which lead to working in the warehouse and doing other general duties. It was a seasonal position.
