WORK EXPERIENCE
STANFORD UNIVERSITY Los Angeles, CA
Field Research Assistant March 5, 2019– September 30, 2020
• Joint project between Civil & Environmental Engineering Department of Stanford University, University of California, Berkeley, and the City of Los Angeles on development of passive systems for treatment of chemicals in urban water runoffs and cost-effective, safe, and sustainable solutions
• Conducted test on residence time, hydraulic conductivity, and basic water parameters such as pH, dissolved oxygen, turbidity, conductivity, dissolved solids, etc.
• Collected and prepared samples to be frozen and sent to Berkeley for test on heavy metals, trace organics, etc.
• Preformed routine check ups, maintenance, chemical preparation, and troubleshooting of the 42 column filtration systems and process control systems PROJECTS
Chemical Engineering Design
Algae Biofuel:
• Designed an algae derived biodiesel plant and scaled up all processes to be industrial-sized with the goal of being more competitive with other fuel sources economically and sustainably
• Consisted of intensive literature research, modification of current designs, modeling and scaling algae processes on AutoCAD, and process simulations on Pro II for separation and conversion processes with necessary hand calculations for sizing theoretical and actual process values
• Delegated assignments and topic deadlines weekly to group partners as project lead, initiated group discussions for complicated topics, and compiled research, calculations, and simulations preformed to write and submit weekly report for the professor
• Focused on lipid extraction, biomass conversion, and downstream products separation processes Chemical Engineering Labs I and II
pH Control:
• Combined theoretical aspects of pH and IMC tuning rule to relate nonlinear nature of pH with process control. Optimized PI control parameters on LabView to manipulate experimental data. Double Pipe Heat Exchanger:
• Analyzed and studied process control system of a double pipe heat exchanger utilizing cascade control strategy. Presented findings in a group to alumni, staff, and peers Process Control
Controller Design:
• Built transfer function model on Matlab, used IMC tuning rule to estimate PI parameters, and tuned PI parameters manually to optimize controller on Simulink Other Lab Experiments: Pool boiling, pressure drop in fluid circuit, fluidized bed, sedimentation, external forced heat convection, air conditioning unit, etc.
