Work History

Employment as a Registered Nurse at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital in Ann Arbor 1975-2003

I worked part-time on a variety of In-patient units (Medical-Surgical, Oncology, Cardiac, Rehabilitation) providing direct care to acutely ill patients.

I also worked in leadership roles as Nurse Coordinator and Preceptor for new staff.

I also was the Nurse Coordinator for Patient Care Information System (PCIS) from 1992-1995 when the first online documentation and ordering system was introduced in St. Joseph Mercy Hospital.

I worked as a Home Care Visiting Nurse in 1994 in addition to my in-patient RN position to learn about community nursing.

Work History

Employment as an Adult Nurse Practitioner, 2003 to Present

2003 to 2006

Eastern Michigan University, Snow Health Clinic – Ypsilanti, MI

In this position, I was responsible for assessing, diagnosing, and prescribing to a large variety of patients in an Internal Medicine and Women's Health clinic on the University campus. I also had an opportunity to work as an adjunct professor teaching health assessment to EMU nursing students Fall Term, 2005.

2006 to 2008

Early Solutions Clinic – Northville, MI

In this position, I was responsible for assessing, diagnosing, and prescribing to a large variety of patients in a limited-services walk-in health clinic. In January, 2008, this employer filed bankruptcy. I filed for unemployment and received benefits for the following six months. I also provided care for my ill father and daughter who had triplet boys in January, 2008.

2009 to 2016

Rainbow Rehabilitation Centers, Inc.

In this position, I was responsible for assessing, diagnosing, and prescribing to residential clients in a community-based rehabilitation center. There were 3 community centers in the Detroit tri-county area that I covered, in addition to 30 residential homes. This position was a 24 hour/7 days per week commitment. It was exciting, autonomous, and challenging. I resigned from this position to care for an aging parent, and to participate in my daughter's battle with colon cancer. My father passed away in 2017 and my daughter passed away in 2018.

2017

Integrated Health Associates (IHA)

In this position, I worked as a contingent health care provider for the Livingston IHA clinic. After 3 months, my daughter’s health deteriorated and I was needed full-time to help with her care needs and the needs of her family. I was unable to offer any hours to IHA, and was terminated.

2019

Mahfooz Physician Group

I was employed by this group to follow patients that were living at Brighton Manor, an assisted living and hospice facility. This facility had recently opened for service in the community. This physician group was serving as primary care providers for the residents that selected their services at admission to the facility. I worked one month in this position. I had significant concerns regarding the facility, communications, work flow, misrepresentation of job description and duties, irregularities with management at Brighton Manor, and therefore, I left the position.

In 2020, I finished the Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT) program, but have not applied for the DEA X waiver yet, as I am not formally employed with a provider/facility who is performing this kind of specialized care.
