Telecommunications/POP Data Center Operations

Managing the day to day network operations for 5 west coast POP locations, such as supporting the network engineering and planning teams with adds, moves and changes, overseeing the local and regional stock levels of network spares and day to day consumables. Allocate & manage onsite resources. Assign work tasks to POP engineers. Coordinate and manage remote hands tasks for engineering and planning as well as for Service delivery. Working with the NOC during troubleshooting of backbone links and customer outages. Managing the installation and turn-up of backbone and customer circuit connectivity; ensure contractual acceptance is met in accordance with vendor MSA including receipt and review of circuit design records and circuit testing results.

Work with carriers to manage circuits like, Internet access circuits, Metro Ethernet and MPLS. Working with data center vendors and telecommunication providers to ensure reliable and functional connectivity per SLAs. Ensuring circuits are designed to standard (redundancy, latency, etc).Working with various data centers, vendors, and internal teams, to troubleshoot connectivity and provide clean handoff for activation .Testing, troubleshooting, and acceptance of all cross connects and telecommunication circuits Providing support for new site builds, moves, and expansions; plan large scale circuit and POP migrations with data center providers, vendors and partners

Audit POP storage locations as needed to ensure accurate inventory and reporting. Request removal of unused hardware from the Data Center Locations for future disposals to ensure maximum space at Data Center. Managed and coordinated the resell and/or recycle of decommissioned network equipment at no cost to company, while raising over $30K in sales.

Conducting regularly scheduled audits of all inhouse cross connects to ensure accurate inventory and invoicing. Work with internal billing team to ensure invoices match contracted rates and usage. Receive procurement requests for hardware and maintenance renewal services from engineering teams. Obtain quotes and pricing for technical products and services from vendors (RFQ).
