EDUCATION

Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry December 2020

California State University San Marcos (Overall GPA: 3.63)

Thesis title: Characterizing the Structure of the Curli Accessory Protein CsgF

Honors: Spring 2017, Fall 2018, Spring 2019.

RESEARCH FOCUS

My research is focused on applying an interdisciplinary approach to biochemistry and molecular biology. I use gene constructs of E.Coli to understand the physiology and protein characterization of derived analytes. Undergraduate projects have focused on protein isolation purification and characterization techniques.

RESEARCH EXPERIENCE

Quantification and Expression of E.Coli on Bacterial Curli August 2018-August 2020

CSU San Marcos, Dr. Jayasinghe

•Designed an comprehensive bacterial transformation for purification of CsgF and CsgE minor subunits to assess functional formation of E.Coli.

•Utilized AKTA Start (Unicorn) affinity chrmotograohy for purification of protein samples.

•Analyze Western Blot and SDS-PAGE to determine the identity of protein samples.

•Anzlyze data accurately from circular dichroism and fluoresecent spectrometry using Excel.

•Train high school students in safly learning and particpting these techniques and work independently.

Instrumental Chemistry August 2019-December 2019

CSU San Marcos, Dr. David Bwambok

•Created working laboratory methodology for the quantification of different analytes using UV-Vis, IR spectroscopy, GS/MS, H-NMR, and C-NMR.

•Utilized analytical chemistry and molecular biology techniques in a cross-cultural laboratory.

•Identified structure of unknown compounds using a variety computational analysis tools.

Community Service Learning for Students February 2018-March 2018

San Marcos Middle School

•Organized educational opportunities for students to engage with science using hands-on experimentation with different analytical techniques.

•Promoted science exploration and understanding in a safe, supportive, and collaborative learning environment.
