Hydrogenation of Dioctyl Phthalate National Tsing Hua University, Hsinchu

(Project Number: MOST 106-2622-8-007-017)

• Surface modification of MCF with Al is carried out to introduce Lewis acid sites in an MCF supported Rh catalyst.

• 100% hydrogenation of dioctyl phthalate to environmentally friendly plasticizer is carried out at mild reaction conditions.

• Rh/Al-MCF catalyst is characterized via various means such as XRD, HR-TEM, N2 sorption to understand its properties. Hydrogenation of Polybutylene and Polyethylene Terephthalate (PBT and PET) National Tsing Hua University, Hsinchu

(Project Number: MOST 107-2622-8-007-015)

• 100% hydrogenation of PBT and PET to environmentally friendly and biodegradable polymers.

• An appropriate solvent to completely dissolve PBT and PET is proposed.

• Rh-Pt/Vulcan XC-72 and Rh-Pt/ SBA-15 catalysts are synthesized and sequently characterized and employed in reaction.

• Complete recovery of the hydrogenated product from solvent using a supercritical CO2 anti-solvent separation technique. Employment
