* I found the potential clients and opened the door for our company into the majority o the small retailers as well as the larger retailers such as Officemart, Incredible Connection and Makro
* I visited with the clients at head office level and negotiated pricing and ‘specials’.
* I also visited the store managers and sales staff at store level
* I initiated incentives and presented them at head office and store level
* I followed up on the incentives and provided the prizes
* I did training at head office & store level
* I set the retail prices, negotiated the rebates and the advertising budgets

* 2004 to 2005 - National Line of Business Manager – Xerox

* I prepared and managed the annual target, sales budget and expense budget on a national basis
* I prepared and updated the “Channels” price list
* I managed the business on a daily and monthly basis to ensure we were making a profit
* I interviewed and hired my own staff and managed them on a daily basis
* I looked after staff in Johannesburg and the branches. My allocation of staff was:
Johannesburg – 3 admin people, 4 external sales people, 3 technical people
Cape Town – 1 admin person, 2 external sales people, 2 technical people
Durban – 1 admin person, 1 external sales person, 1 technical person
PE – 1 admin person, 1 external person, 1 technical person

* Our business was existing business - selling printers and consumables into the dealer channel
* We also promoted our printer products to end users though marketing, advertising and face to face contact and demonstrations
* We grew our business through customer events and through our sales & marketing team
* All of our printer sales was new business and our consumables sales was considered ‘existing’ and new business. We were naturally reliant on our dealer channel
* I worked predominantly internally managing the business unit; however I also worked externally visiting the dealers in the channel
* I conducted a weekly staff meeting with the Johannesburg staff as well as a weekly conference call with the staff at branch level.
* I traveled to the branches on a quarterly basis (Durban, Cape Town & PE)
* The Xerox division achieved an average monthly target GP of R 1 million (before expenses)
* The Xerox division achieved the annual target each year and I received bonus pay-outs for meeting and over-achieving on my targets
* I achieved great success with this division while it lasted, based on exceeding the set targets
* I reported directly to the company CEO
(Square One took the decision to close the Xerox Channel business due to too many partners in the Channel and too little control of the business. Xerox has chosen to focus on the direct model. Square One closed the Xerox business and let all of the staff within my division move into the Xerox business. I remained within the company and moved into another division)
* 2008 to 2019 /2020 - Account Executive - Marking Solutions
(Sales of industrial printers to the manufacturing industry.)
Duties and Responsibilities
* My main job function was to sell coding and marking industrial printers into the industrial market sector. This constituted about 90% of my job function
I was also selling Fujitsu and Kodak scanners into the dealer and end user channel. This constituted about 10% of my job function based on ‘hereditary’ business.
* I was an external sales person and ran my clients like my own “mini business”
* I was responsible for cold calling for new clients and for looking after current clients
* I did telesales as well as external sales
* I did my own mail shots and client ‘marketing’
* I achieved sales targets on a monthly basis (even though there were always budget constraints within the company)
* I looked after some major clients such as Tiger Brands, Adcock (now Tiger), AEL, Bayer Crop Science, Bosal Afrika, Cera Oils (Shell), Clover, CBI Electric Brits, McCain Foods, Kewberg Cables – to mention a few
* I prepared my own proposals and quote
* I did my own ordering & procurement to ensure the correct items were ordered
* I did my own project management from the order to the completion of the installation
I then took advantage of a retrenchment in September of 2019 when the company was offering retrenchments to the staff. I continued to sell printers for the company part time until approximately May of 2020.
I then started selling refuse bags from home on a part time basis.
As an outgoing and extroverted person, I have felt that something has been missing in the last few months since I have not been going into an office and I have found that I definitely prefer to work in a busy people-based environment.
* 2020 to Present - Account Manager – Dalco Engineering
* I currently work from home for Dalco Engineering
* My main job function is to supply Refuse Bags to clients
* My clientele ranges from homeowners to schools to gardening services
* Given that I work alone from home, I do my own ordering, selling, book keeping and stock management
* I process my own orders on my supplier
* I handle the stock management
* I liaise with customers on a regular basis from an internal / telesales perspective
* I visit those same customers from an external sales perspective
* I also manage my own books and payments from my customers
PERSONAL
I am a confident, happy, dynamic and highly driven individual. I have always excelled in positions where high energy and enthusiasm is required.
I am motivated and self driven with an external locus of control. I believe in controlling my own destiny and strongly live by the policy of “If it is to be, it is up to me”.
I am a person with a positive outlook on life and always make the most and the best out of every situation.
I am a peoples’ person and thrive when working closely with individuals in any people related position. I work just as well alone as I do with a team or leading a team.
I am trustworthy, helpful, kind and empathetic and believe my human skills would be an asset to any company.
I am timeous, extremely trustworthy and loyal. I am committed to my task at hand and the company with which I am employed.
I can do absolutely anything with strong self commitment and for this reason I have enjoyed a successful career path.
SICK LEAVE
I have taken approximately four days sick leave in over 30 years of employment with the same company.
HISTORY
I was with Square One Solutions Group (now Marking Solutions) for just over 30 years. I have a flawless track record with the company based on shared expectations with the CEO and chairman. Our relationship has been based on trust and mutual respect which has been maintained by both parties.
I have achieved many admin / accounting and sales achievement awards and incentive trips in my time with the company. During my employment, I was a committed and integral part of the company and a respectable and honest employee.
I was a shareholder of the listed entity (the listed company went into liquidation in 2010). I received shares as management incentives on achievement of targets, as well as completing “terms of service”.
I am now looking for new employment as I took a retrenchment from the company I was previously working for and I am now finding myself feeling bored and demotivated working alone at home.
As a peoples-person, I am feeling the need to get back out into the market and to integrate myself into the job market again.
