08/2016: Design and Manufacturing process of Spur Gear (GEAR CUTTING MACHINE)

• An initial case study of composite gears was performed.

• Detailed study and analysis of different materials to be used on spur gear was done.

• Concluded that deformation and weight will be less if manufactured with composites compared with steel.

• A detailed design was developed in CATIA V5 part modeling work bench considering the required tolerances for manufacturing.

• Analyzed the design using ANSYS software to verify that the gear is structurally rigid and durable for continuous use.
