Duties and Responsibilities
Clinical Chemistry
Prepares specimen for chemistry analysis
Performs external quality control on a monthly basis Performs internal quality control on a daily basis prior to testing Performs routine blood chemistry tests such as Fasting blood sugar, Lipid profile, serum electrolytes, creatinine, Blood uric acid, Liver profile and etc. Performs special tests such as HbA1c, Troponin T, Troponin I, arterial blood gases.

Blood Banking
Performs phlebotomy on blood donors.
Separates whole blood into components such as Packed RBC, platelet concentrate etc. Performs compatibility testing using Tube method and Gel system. Performs ABO grouping (Forward and Reverse) and Rh(anti-D) grouping. Performs therapeutic phlebotomy.

Immunology and Serology
Performs immunochromatographic assay for HAV IgG/IgM, HBsAg, HCV, HIV Syphilis, Dengue NS1,IgG/IgM combo, typhidot
Performs manual tests such as RPR and tubex test.
Performs thyroid panel,anti-HBs titer and total prostate specific antigen test.

• Biomerieux Mini Vidas Automated Immunoassay Analyzer Microbiology
Performs microbiology tests such as Gram stain, AFB stain and KOH test on different specimens.
Performs automated identification of bacteria.
Manually performs culture and identification (biochemical testing). Performs antimicrobial susceptibility testing
Utilizes API-20E system on the identification of bacteria.

Clinical Microscopy and Parasitology
Manually performs urinalysis, fecalysis and occult blood. Performs semen analysis.
Reads microscopic slides from proctosigmoidoscopy and rectal biopsy for the identification of schistosomes.

Phlebotomy and Others
Performs phlebotomy on newborns, pediatric, adult and geriatric patients. Performs arterial puncture.
Follows protocol in specimen handling and processing. Directs purchases of laboratory equipment and supplies Reviews test results to ensure quality control
Conducts education and training programs for medical technology students Devises work schedule and allocate duties to laboratory staff Oversees the performance of tests in the fields of hematology, chemistry, clinical microscopy, immunohematology and serology.
Organizes monthly meeting among staff for the improvement of technical service of overall operation in the laboratory.
