Consulting engagement with the U.S. Department of Defense within the DFAS organization helping to construct and develop accounting and reporting solutions within an Oracle 11G environment. This includes the tools of Oracle Designer, and Oracle Developer. Also included performance tuning Trial balances reports within the Oracle automatic tuning environment with analytical algorithms by determining Oracles load plans and adjusting the SQL. Developed a meta-data driven drill report drill down solution. This allowed for the reports and their respective drill downs to be dynamic in nature and driven by meta-data in lieu of hard coding. Designed and participated in development of an administrative KPI using Oracle and Scripting with AJAX.

Lead design and development for DFAS DIT (Deposits in Transit) system which attempts to automatically match and/or adjust all Debit and Credit vouchers reporting to Treasury.

Farmers Insurance Application Architect II March 2005 – July 2012

Hands on manager of Oracle DBAs, PL/SQL Developers, WebSphere Administrators, and Java Developers on multi terabyte clustered environment.

Architected inference engine to allow business to develop “what if” scenarios within production environments to determine premium analysis. This was designed as a web facing UI from multi vendors onto an IBM Web Server to a WebSphere business layer with Data from an OS400 DB2 data store. This was a business requested solution that required a POC with business.

Architected solutions for eSignature, Archiving to Amazon AWS, line of business re-platform, and multiple middle tier services. This was a global solution using SOA services going to the cloud and required a continuous collaboration with business.

Architected an object-oriented meta-data driven POS system to sell P&C insurance. This was a web facing UI, going back to an IBM web server load balancing to a clustered WebSphere application set of servers using JMS as the ESB. The data access was entirely in Hibernate and the data store was a clustered Oracle 10G environment. This required much prototyping for the business community and multiple code reviews with the developers to ensure project success. Over a three year period the project came in under the budget of 10 million dollars.

Designed and architected messaging infrastructure using ACORD XML standards. Managed, designed, and implemented SOA service allowing outside entities to obtain premium information, credit information, vehicle information, payment information, and quotes based upon available services. This used IBM MQ as the ESB.

Architected multiple solutions on SharePoint 2003 services that were all Web Facing intranet solutions using SQL Server 2000 as the data store. This consisted of employee provisioning, intranet ready mail scanning into a home grown document repository.

Architected a customer service workflow system using EASYLINK, as the 3rd party vendor to acquire all documents for processing either through faxes or being fed from internal systems. This was a web facing UI with C# and Java as the development components all working with the 3rd party vendor systems through SOAP transactions.
