Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay May 20, 2019 - July 10, 2019 Development of high strength Dental Feldspathic Porcelain which is fused with metal used in making artifi cial crowns and bridges.

Artifi cial crowns consists of a coping as a substrate and layer of veneer on it. We focused on the veneers which we made for developing high strengt h PFM (Porcelain-Fused-to-Metal). PFM is considered to be the most esthetic dental restoration. Conducted XRD to compare the results against the benchmark commercial product.

Synthesis and Characterization of Alumina Coating on Steel for Corrosion and Wear Application Jan. 1, 2020 - March 3, 2020 Mentor: Dr. Sasi Kumar Team Size: 4

1. The adherence of the Sol-gel Alumina coating is studied using different interface layers and their structural and morphological characteristics were i nvestigated using XRD, SEM and EDX techniques.

2. The SEM studies showed coating thickness and XRD analysis of the coating con firmed the presence of -Al2O3. Corrosion and Wear Resistance of Sol-gel Alumina Coated Steel used in Hydro-power Plant. Sept. 1, 2019 - Dec. 2, 2019 Mentor: Dr. Sasi Kumar Team Size: 4

1. The project aims at the possibility of alumina coating on a steel substrate via a Sol-gel which has application in Hydro-power plants. 2. Alumina nano-particles are averse to the formation of oxide layers, are corrosion and wear resistant and therefore form an efficient coating on the steel machinery lowers the deterioration rate up to a large extent.
