Fashion and Interior Design Joint Venture. Strategic alliance between Angel Sanchez renowned Venezuelan fashion designer and Christopher Coleman renowned New York interior designer.

General Manager, Finance & Treasury

Direct the planning, budgeting, and analytical functions of the two Business Units which have different billing, collections and income processes. Reconcile both results under the same accounting line and prepare reports that illustrate the achievements of both business units separately and together for the easy decision-making of investors. Provide strategic treasury and risk management oversight. Responsible for ensuring domestic and international regulatory compliance, especially under the current expansion efforts in Latin America and Europe. Lead the entire operation and accounting processes of both business units.

+ Financial lead with the new Investment group in expanding global markets such as: Spain, Dominican Republic, Mexico, Guatemala and Panama trough market research to asses business opportunities, and develop a product portfolio for market niches. Increasing revenue 30% per year.

+ Completely restructure the Fashion Unit to a third-party production scheme, achieving cost savings of more than 50% and optimizing the margin by 30%. This meant savings of more than $ 400K.

+ Creation of a new process and policies for the supervision of commercial banking, exchange risk and financial transactions with new markets, including derivative hedging processes to keep cash and assets protected. Estimated savings per year $150K.

+ Build and improve the financial model for the entire operation of the two Business Units. Present and review the report monthly and quarterly with the Board of Directors to identify risks and better controls of variations in results. With this new work methodology, we have been able to optimize income and save on costs and expenses, giving an improvement in EBITDA of approximately 15% per year (More than a $3M in 7 years)

+ Creation and implementation of the accruals policy through the correct allocation of costs, expenses and reserves, and the preparation of ledgers and their respective reports achieving significant savings in the operation and in the tax returns.

+ Implementation of the annual planning guidelines creating, the budget of each year, and the monthly forecasts, with special focus on the marketing area, following up, delivering and analyzing the variations of the monthly forecasts, ensuring accurate and timely information for key decision makers.

Personal Systems Business Unit Finance Manager

Lead in formulating the Business Unit’s future direction creating the strategic business plan. Oversee the financial operation including issuance of financial information, management of: tax, hedge, cash, control and audit. Lead all accounting records to control the results. Responsible for the month end close process, include volume reconciliation of Balance Sheet accounts and P&L variance analysis. Team building and development, cost and internal controls.

+ Creation of a factoring process for debts with financial institutions (banks and insurance companies). This process was part of a development of the total quality and six sigma methodology at the time. The A/R turnover in this customer category was reduced from 90 days to 30 days.

+ Prepare proposals for leads including the pricing and financing strategy for the products and services of the business unit. Success Ratio 98% with average revenues of $300K per deal.

+ Lead a total quality team for the collection process for oil and government clients. Collections increase in $5M each year. In these particular clients the A/R Turnover went down from 180 days to 90 days.

+ Lead the creation of the Treasury department of a new business unit called Customer Financing (IBM's internal bank, focused on clients with purchases of more than $ 500K in equipment) It was possible to finance more than $ 80M the first year. AAA Administrative Award winner in 1996.

Andean Region Treasurer

Align financial objectives for each country with appropriate capital/debt structure and manage bank audits. Manage the corporate cash and debt compliance requisites of a multimillion, multiple currency region, including working capital. Responsible for developing and implementing strategies, policies, processes and procedures to deliver a “best in class” Treasury function for the region, successfully providing Senior Management with the financial visibility needed for their decision-making process.

+ Standardize several of the Treasury processes such as, collections, billing, reporting, cash management and financing, among others, in the 3 countries that made up the region.

+ Use hedge strategies to mitigate company financial risks related on its foreign exchange positions under an exchange control regime. (For example: Sale of the Region HQ Building in Venezuela for $11M)

+ Manage the entire photo film import process through the special currency exchange control law in Venezuela. Savings of $40M in cost per year.

+ Negotiate and improve the relationship with the banks in each country, obtaining savings of more than $ 5M in the region.

Establish treasury operations including policies and procedures, financial models for cash utilization and working capital requirements with HDS Los Angeles HQ, credit management, and covenant bank and audit compliance reporting. + The Accounts Receivable ratios were always kept in 30 days and the accounts payable in 60 days prior negotiations with suppliers, keeping a healthy cash flow.
