MANAGEMENT

As an activities assistant and program specialist I learned skills to handle situations at time that were difficult to handle. During my time working with adults with Alzheimer’s and various degrees of Dementia; I learned how to manage scheduling of group sessions and individual/one on one session. The management extended to preparing and setting up the room or environment for art therapy projects/directives. The ability/skill to manage professional responsibilities was a skill continues to be developed over the course of my professional career.

COMMUNICATION

As an Activities assistant/program specialist, situations occur where I needed to act quickly to gain control of group; or to regain the attention of a group. This has led to my learning how to remain calm and speak in a manner that was both confident and authoritative at the same time. Explaining and demonstrating directives and/or daily group discussions in a manner that each participate could clearly understand; was developed and continues to develop over the course of working in the field.
