Senior Information Developer

Manager, Information Development - Medical Adherence

For Omnicell pharmaceutical packaging product developed in an Agile environment, defined documentation library set for this new product development. Identified needed documents by performing user task analysis for both end user and internal documents. Made site visits to installed customer base. Worked closely with SMEs, developers, SQEs, APOs, product managers and other stakeholders.

For SureMed Manager software, designed and developed cutting-edge help system using Responsive HTML5 output for seamless output to different mobile devices from a single source. Working within Agile SCRUM team to integrate Context-Sensitive Help, guided developers who had no previous experience with CSH Help. Integrated MP4 video and Captivate software demos. Also, single-sourced the help content with a software user manual.

For Omnicell packager machines, wrote user guides, system admin guides, installation, operations and maintenance manuals, and release notes for internal and external customers who work with and maintain complex robot products. Produced quick reference guides for customers to use to train new employees.

As department manager, I was responsible for managing six writers to produce needed docs on time. Performed recruiting, hiring/firing, performance reviews, individual task assignments, and weekly department reporting. Created and maintained department templates to assure style standards were met consistently across product lines. Worked with writers to continually improve technical documentation and innovated new content delivery platforms.

UTC Fire & Security, Lakewood Ranch, Florida 2009—2013

Technical Writer III

For EST3 Life Safety Fire Alarm system, designed, wrote, edited, and maintained online-- help systems. This included identifying inconsistencies in current help, designing a standard GUI interface for context-sensitive help, and implementing that interface consistently across 700+ topics. Worked with UL for agency reviews and incorporated changes.

For new 4X panel development, led a Help focus group and evaluated help tools and output formats needed to support new HTML5-based features. Serving as the 4X Publications team leader, created, conducted, and documented a Help Proof of Concept and Pugh matrix evaluations. Presented results to program management, product management, engineering, and team leads from other disciplines.

Created technical publication planning documents, project work estimates, and work breakdown structures for new development and sustaining programs in assigned product lines.

Teltronics Inc., Sarasota, Florida 2005—2009

Senior Technical Writer

For Cerato IP telephony soft switch and mass communications system, designed, wrote, edited, and maintained a library of over 33 technical documents, including help systems, software user manuals, installation & maintenance manuals, programming/administration manuals, operation/end user manuals, pre-installation guides, and quick reference cards. Updated these items as required to support ongoing product development. Managed multiple copies of branded documentation and coordinated changes between help systems and print documentation. Interfaced with product development engineers, validation engineers, and product management.

For OMNIWorks Contact Center/Call Center, designed, wrote, edited and maintained complete manual set including agent user guide, supervisor guide (reports), installation manual, CIM Manager manual, administration & maintenance manual, and quick reference cards. Performed complete library redesign/update to comply with latest technical publications standards, ensuring consistency between product lines.

Acted independently and collaboratively to handle all aspects of documentation project development, from initial planning through release.

Senior Technical Communications Developer

For new IP telephony product line, designed, wrote, edited, and maintained a library of technical documentation, including 6 new manuals, 2 new help systems, and 1 quick start guide.

For legacy products, produced software user manuals, installation & maintenance manuals, programming manuals, operation/end user manuals, and quick reference guides. Updated these manuals as required to support ongoing product development. Rewrote/redesigned older cumbersome manuals and help systems; incorporated task orientation, increased usability, and standardized content and layout.

Wrote comprehensive software documentation for telecommunications and telemetry test systems, including user manuals and programmer manuals.
