PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

INFINERA CORP, Sunnyvale, CA Jun 2019 – Current

Sr. Platform Program Manager

Platform manager of next generation long haul and sub-sea network transponders. Responsible for coordinating all elements for the product release including R&D, PLM, services and manufacturing. Role extends beyond traditional program management with focus on management of critical crossfunctional required to unblock teams and streamline peer to peer communications. Responsible for risk management cross functional organization and the critical deliverable dependencies between those teams.

Close involvement with PLM, architects and development engineers to clarify and accelerate scope definition. Collaborate with engineers to ensure comprehensive high level and detailed level details are clearly defined to accelerate program schedule and reduce risks that often occur late in the development process.

Key player in overhauling(due to acquisition of Coriant(formerly NSN/Siemens, Tellabs) PLM à R&D processes, including bottoms up engineering processes to support release scope definition, resource utilization and optimization, feature ownership and approvals of design documents to engineering and developed structure of teams to ensure accountability and traceability of deliverables to the product requirements.

Position reported initially to VP of PLM(the platform business head) and later to VP of PMO.

Sr. Manager, Systems Engineering/ODM Aug 2017 – Jun 2019

Anchor role in System Engineering as manager of outside design and manufacturing(ODM) to scale and define processes for accelerating product cadence and roll out using 3rd party engineering and mfg teams. Products include delivery of HW, lasers, optics, firmware and SW. Scope of the role covers product PM, Eng Manager and key technical supplier interactions.

Drive definition and details of procurement spec, manage engineering milestones, manage technical aspects of design reviews and helps define and review qualification testing of HW and SW gear. Key interface between: Network architecture, PLM, mfg, customer services, SW(Controls + NE + NM) and several functional engineering teams.

Delivered all aspects product requirements: performance, reliability, process, manufacturability, supplier management, test definition and development, yield, BOM cost structure, and ramp into production.

2008-10: Engineering lead and PM of 10G APD/PIN ROSA line for DWDM applications in 30 for Fixed WL and Tunable Transceivers(XFP, XFP Tunable, SFP+) market. Reduced cost of ROSA by 65%($130 à $43), resulting bottom line cost reduction of $5.3M and $11.5M in 2011 and 2012, respectively

2006-08: Principal for 2nd Gen 10G XFP/SFP+ TOSA leading to 65% cost reduction in TOSA. This product was one of the most successful products in Finisar history. Led to $2B+ in revenue and still runs in high volumes today.

2005-06: 10G XFP TOSA into production. Assigned this project that was stuck in late stage development for nearly 9 months and successfully released within 90 days.

Extensively worked with Asia teams, regular traveling to Contract Manufacturers, captive factories and key suppliers throughout Asia

Called in on various projects as subject matter expert in an advisory role for the various optical component groups within Finisar family: Texas, Malaysia, Singapore and Boston

CYGNUS LASER, Duvall, WA 1995 - 1996

Optical Engineer

Designed a higher performing polarizer Vanadate(YVO4) for a solid state LIDAR system for NASA supported SBIR. 10x improvement in transmission loss while maintaining maximum extinction ratio. Resulted in two NASA patent disclosures on the Vanadate polarizer design.
