Participated in skilled team labs with 4 other chemical engineering students. For every lab a formal proposal, formal report, and presentation were made by my team.

Projects included:

Silicon oxidation: silicon wafers were placed in a furnace to determine the correlation of humidity to silicon oxidation

Membrane dialysis: A series of tubes connected to various membranes to determine the effect of flow speed on mass transfer coefficient

Heat exchanger: my team designed and built a heat exchanger to test certain given parameters and the effect different temperatures differences had on heat transfer.

Ethanol distillation: my team operated a 20 foot distillation column to obtain a certain concentration of ethanol.

American Institute of Chemical Engineers Design Competition

Designed a manufacturing facility that transports and synthesizes dimethyl ether including cost of manufacture (ex cost of raw materials, electricity, steam, water, coolant, and waste removal)

The design included startup cost and estimated time until factory is profitable.

Production Experience

Operated brewing equipment to produce 30 barrel production system, and 3.5 barrel pilot system.. Assembled and ran date code printer, canning line and labeler as well as equipment in producing beer.

Test and Balance used pitot tube and manometer to diagnosis and correct air flow problems in clinical and office settings
