I read with much interest the position notice of NLP Data Scientist. My name is Mike Tangedal and I am a data scientist here in Minneapolis. I have extensive experience programming SAS as well as notable success leading teams in development of NLP tools so I would be an excellent fit for this position given the description.

I am primarily a SAS programmer specializing in efficiency and data quality issues especially within the realm of unstructured natural language data. Recently I am specializing in creating logistic models based on textual data to refine meaning and actionable outcomes from unstructured data. For this task I am utilizing NLP skills using contextual AI tables of my own design along with support from Python algorithms and WordNet. These AI tables function as the basis for machine learning algorithms as subsequent processing refines the data. I created metrics measuring personalization, sentiment, and customer needs. This has been the finest work of my esteemed career and I received much recognition and praise leading two teams to translate data which had previously required manual oversight into an automated process. These were valuable tools that led to significant increases in customer insight as well as actionable corrective actions improving relationships between customers and staff.

I’ve worked with many types of data (education data being the most recent but also banking, healthcare, and others) and specialize in working with large data sets utilizing both base SAS and SQL to summarize files from various products all in a timely manner to conform to the strict reporting requirements of various members of the team. I pride myself on possessing the expertise to quickly resolve the most efficient solution to a myriad of data challenges all while creating SAS code that is both well-documented and easily translatable to the original business specifications. I can then take these results and create solutions utilizing machine learning to offer the most definitive insights and clearly convey the story of the data.
