OBJECTIVE

To hold the role of a lead/manager in a content/publishing company using my 15-year experience in production editing, project management, quality control, and copy editing which includes people management.

WORK EXPERIENCE

Spi Global, Chennai (May 2014 – March 2020)

Production Editor Wiley

I was one among the team who was fortunate to be trained directly by the Client (Wiley) for a month on Production Editors roles and responsibilities for Global Research (GR) division.

Global Research is divided into four LS, HS, USPS, UKPS, SSH and VCH.

I handle VCH books. The Editorial contact is in Weinheim, Germany. Mainly Chemistry, Physics books.

I was lucky enough to work with books of all the above listed divisions.

Managing the project from scratch to end [acceptance of manuscript, print and digital version].

Job involves Co-ordinaton with editorial team CC [Content Capture], PJE Project Editors, EA Editorial Assistants, Authors, Cover Designers, Manufacturing team.

Vendor Management Typesetters, Project Managers, Copyeditors, Indexer, SCOPE, TCS, Aptara.

At times, when books are needed for conferences, and if we are not able to get printed books on time for conference, I arrange to get the bound proofs ready.

Recently, Wiley started a new work flow across GR division which is now called as Integrated Production Editor [IPE].

This role is challenging. I was lucky enough to take up the pilot project for VCH.

In IPE workflow we have the opportunity to work with authors and all editorial team as mentioned above.

Schedules for all projects received are maintained in Clients system [VBPM].

Main aim is to bring out an error free output on time.

I was given International Journal Of Cancer, the most prestigious journal for Wiley.

This was a bimonthly journal. The total number of pages was 6000.

Analyzing projects, preparing schedules, coordinating with authors, academic editors, in-house editors, and the production team.

Preparing the line-up [list of papers] for the closure of an issue in a journal.

Selecting papers to prepare Spotlight for every issue.

Selecting colored figures that need to be printed in color.

Managing schedules for all manuscript papers received till it is lined up in an issue in JPCMS [ clients system].The schedules can be viewed by editorial and all authors.

Delivering error-free products to clients on time.

Preparing the issue release to press.
