Duties and Responsibilities

* Works as part of the respiratory therapy department administrative staff.

- working hours is from 7:00am to 4:00pm

- Works hand in hand with the department head in the daily departmental transactions.

Mainly involve in the OUT-PATIENT transaction of our busy Respiratory Therapy Department.

Sleep Center, PFT and Home Healthcare Coordinator

– Accepts sleep center, PFT and home healthcare referrals for in-patient and out-patient functions.

-Works simultaneously with HHC RT on the discharge and planning of patients –supplies

-Responsible for dispensing Sleep / Home Healthcare non-invasive machines (CPAP and BIPAP) coordinating with the social work department for approval.

With 150 machines under my discretion.

-Educate out/in patient and family on how to use equipments and supplies before discharging from the hospital.

- Responsible for ordering and monitoring stock level of the department for in-patient use.

-Works directly with Logistic department during product evaluation, stock monitoring, tender system and purchase requests.

- Works hand in hand with Biomedical Engineers in the scheduled preventive maintenance of all respiratory equipments hospital wide. (Ventilators: invasive and non-invasive ventilators, bronchoscope, GEM 4000 arterial blood gases, etc.)

- Daily replenishment and monitoring of stocks, ventilator machines, and oxygen supply mainly in the ICU (AICU/PICU/SICU/NICU) and in the wards.

- Operate and monitor respiratory equipment to administer treatments such as oxygen, oxygen-air mixtures, humidified air or medications. Troubleshoots ventilator and arterial blood gas machines hospital wide.

- CAP certified laboratory which includes our GEM 4000 blood gas machine.

Performs scheduled CAP sampling to maintain and check accuracy of blood gas results,

Assisting fellow RT’s and interns.

-Coordinate with CSSD regarding re-usable equipments and supplies for re-processing.

Bronchoscopes, Video and laryngeal blades, non-invasive portable machines for disinfection and the like.

-Works hand in hand with infection control in ways how to prevent and contain the spread

of infection with patients and equipments such as during intubation and bronchoscopy.

-Coordinates with the Quality department maintaining JCI required data and statistics such as daily and monthly recap, Key performance indicators, IPP’s and APP’s.

-Maintains competency through in-services, seminars and trainings.

-Assist in the training of RT interns and externs.

-Perform artificial respiration and external cardiac massage

-Arterial Blood Gas collection and sampling.
