CAREER HISTORY
Harlem Children’s Zone July 2017 – May 2020
Program Aide
Facilitated afterschool activities for grades K-2, developed, and submitted weekly lesson plans for the group.
Implemented the steps of the behavioral management cycle by providing clear directions to scholars.
Narrated positive aspects and used the least invasive approach to correct minor infractions before delivering a consequence.
Used conflict resolution techniques to defuse children’s emotional meltdowns. RESEARCH PROJECTS
E.Coli recombination with GFP plasmids
Demonstrated expertise and knowledge in a microbiological setting and gained technical skills such as: Maintaining and purifying bacterial cell culture, Agarose Gel Electrophoresis (SDS PAGE), PCR, RT-PCR, Plasmid Amplification, Use of restriction enzymes, Isolate and analyze DNA, RNA, and protein, Southern Blot, Western Blot. Sequencing of yeast genomic DNA
Five Saccharomyces cerevisiae clones from this collection (clones A, B, C, D, and E) were obtained for this project. The goal was to identify the gene that is fused with the GFP gene which required the use of various techniques such as Iso- lating DNA from yeast clone, PCR amplifying the GFP-fusion region, Sequencing the PCR product, Using Basic Local Alignment Search Tool (BLAST) to identify the tagged gene in the yeast clone. BIO 420 Microbiology Course at BMCC
• Completed routine checks of instrumentation and laboratory systems such as a light microscope use and maintenance.
• Prepared microscope slides and assisted in ensuring the correctness of staining.
• Maintained good laboratory safety and sterile techniques.
• Fully documented experimentation data in laboratory notebooks.
• Performed simple staining techniques and differential staining techniques (gram, acid-fast, spore, capsule) on bacterial microscope samples.
• Performed direct microscopic counting using Petroff-Hausser counting chamber on bacterial populations
