Objective

I am a highly motivated, self-aware individual who loves to learn and try new things. I have recently earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology from the University of Hawaii at Hilo. I have also studied abroad in Australia in order to broaden my knowledge, education, and experience to gain a better understanding of the world. I have recently been accepted to Arizona State Universities online graduate degree program, beginning January 2021.Currently, I am seeking an entry level position within an organization that is involved with Social Justice or includes Social Research.

Paraprofessional Skills Trainer • Hawaii Behavioral Health • Hilo, HI • October 2019 – Present

•Work one on one with a student to address teacher directed goals and objective. In addition to implementing the student's Individualized Education Plan (IEP) and Behavioral Support Plan. Collect data of student’s behavior, actions, and progress throughout the day. Also providing assistance as needed in the classroom.

•Stand in as store manager when store manager was not present. Often working alone or with one other employee during the shift. Most shifts are either opening or closing, with an occasional midday shift. As a part of this team, greeting customers, providing customer service, cashier services, sorting shipment, stocking shelves, answering phone calls, and piercing ears are done in a multitasked manner. Schedule and host birthday parties of 5-10 young customers and their parents before/after store hours. Ear Piercing and Ear Piercings earring sales were the biggest priority in this company. I have won numerous awards for the most Ear-Piercing sales in a week, which has often led store location recognized as one of the top selling stores in the region.

•As one of the oldest fine dining restaurants in the town, the food and service at this location had to be done with perfection. Complete orders in a swift and timely fashion. Attention to detail in the making of sushi dishes and other tasks. Ensured the freshness of food and ingredients by checking for quality, keeping track of old and new items, and rotating stock. Holidays were the busiest times for this restaurant where I have substituted for or assisted other cooks during emergencies or the rush periods. As the youngest of any of the staff at this time, I always assisted help where it was needed, whether it be to cover shifts, extend my shift hours, assisting the dishwasher, etc. It led to 4 pay raises during the duration of my time there, making me the 3rd highest paid employee at that time.

•Manage the safety and wellbeing of 20-30 elementary school-aged students after school until parents were able to pick them up. I have worked with children from grades K-5 where I had to develop age appropriate lesson plans, activities, games, etc. Perform general administrative tasks, such as taking attendance, editing internal paperwork, and making phone calls. Support children's emotional and social development, encouraging understanding of others and positive self-concepts. Identify signs of emotional or developmental problems in children and bring them to parents' or guardians' attention. Keep records on individual children, including daily observations and information about activities, meals served, and medications administered. Discipline children and recommend or initiate other measures to control behavior, such as caring for own clothing and picking up toys and books.
