RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES
Senior Business Analyst working as an independent consultant with 20 years of progressive information technology consulting services experience across all phases of the business process management, software development, and project management lifecycles.
Facilitate sessions across the business process management lifecycle (BMPL); work with subject matter experts (SME) through the document, assess, improve, and manage phases:
Complete current state process analysis and modeling
Identify areas of improvement, opportunities to optimize, gain efficiency, and align with best practices while (re)designing future state processes
Implement practices, key performance indictors (KPI) and data collection methods to assist in continual improvement of implemented processes
Solution delivery using different frameworks, delivery models and methodologies (e.g. Rational Unified Process, Agile, Lean, Kanban, waterfall, hybrid approaches, etc.):
Document functional and non-functional requirements using traceability matrices and requirement registers as inputs to produce functional requirement documents (FRD), system design documents (SDD), technical design documents (TDD), cross-functional flow charts, RACI models, test scripts and training documents
Capture and elaborate stakeholder requests, vision and business cases; using these artifacts to develop use case models, supplementary specifications, software development plans, analysis models, design models, implementation models, test scripts and training documents
Backlog development & refinement, define personas, epics, user stories, and acceptance criteria; within a sprint follow established cadence to complete just in time analysis, capture complex user interactions and non-functional requirements
Identify business capabilities and value streams (incorporate BPML outputs) to develop business architectures and solution architectures
Manage request processes (i.e. RFQ, RFI, RFP, & RFS) through draft, evaluation, recommendation and award:
Draft request working with Procurement, Contract Management, and Legal to ensure adherence to applicable company and regulatory policies
Design request packages to elicit structured and complete responses from vendors
Develop qualitative and quantitative selection criteria to employ a logical approach in assessing vendor responses and measuring a proposed solution’s functional and non-functional fit to requirements
Complete detailed comparative analyses including total cost of ownership (TCO) and return on investment (ROI) calculations to support the decision process (for both on premise and software-as-a-service proposed solutions)
Onboard vendors and vendor resources; manage relationship between client SMEs and vendor delivery teams
Leading project teams from ideation to implementation of enterprise solutions (i.e. identification of need, solution selection, design / configuration, testing, training, implementation and integration):
Create artifacts as per client project management office; project requests, business cases, TCO/ROI analyses, estimates, project charters, project plans, test strategies, training strategies, implementation plans, progress plans, and organizational change management plans
Manage implementation projects and budgets; ensure accurate progress reporting, identify risks / issues and raise change requests in a timely manner

Trans Mountain December 2018 – November 2020
Scope: Digital transformation program’s primary objective was the enterprise wide adoption of uniform, effective and efficient business processes to be supported by integrated technologies and best in class information systems.
Outcomes: Adoption of future state business processes based on best practices with accommodation to regulatory requirements across the various business units, functional areas and geographical regions of the organization. From initiation of the ERP project to implementation successfully delivered an integrated set of business solutions and supporting processes within nine (9) months. Over the two-year span implemented and integrated numerous enterprise solutions; including: O365, LMS, ITSM / ESM, Payroll, iPaaS, Contract Management, Capital Planning, Project Controls, EAM, etc.
Technology: MS D365, MS O365, Enablon, Totara, ServiceNow, ADP Workforce Now, Optis, Boomi, Dynaway, Omega PIMS and numerous .NET legacy purpose-built applications.
Methodology: Implementation partners typically used their own delivery approach (e.g. Scrum, Kanban, Lean, Waterfall, etc.). Vendor methodologies for solution delivery; reported progress to client PMO in a waterfall format.
H&R Block Canada July 2018 – November 2018
Scope: Accounting system for one of the verticals within the organization had reached end of life and the decision was made to build a custom replacement due to the unique functional requirements.
Outcomes: Completed FRD and SDD for the offshore team to complete development. Developed test strategies for solution, training plans and designed future state business processes to correspond with the future state solution.
Technology: RPG, DB1, and MS O365.
Methodology: Organization employed Kanban; however, due to the development group’s choice of SLDC this project used a stage-gate based waterfall delivery methodology.
Bits in Glass January 2018 – June 2018
Scope: Simultaneous delivery of two major projects for separate clients; COTS CRM (Salesforce) implementation and a custom-built enrollment solution for an insurance provider. CRM implementation covered typical sales lifecycle (lead, opportunity, quote, close won / close loss) as well as Marketing and Service Management. The custom-built solution allowed applicants to self-enroll in various insurance products as well as the design of an API so that the solution could seamlessly integrate into disparate benefit administration platforms.
Outcomes: Successful design, development/configuration, and implementation of business solutions to support client requirements and implementation of corresponding future state business processes within six (6) months. Increased client’s knowledge and comfort level with Agile artifacts, rituals and terminology.
Technology: Salesforce, MuleSoft, Selerix, Visual Paradigm, and RallyDev.
Methodology: Agile (focusing on core ceremonies & artifacts); reported progress to client PMO in a waterfall format.
University of Calgary October 2015 – November 2017
Scope: Program objective was the institution wide adoption of uniform, effective and efficient business processes to be supported by integrated technologies and best in class information systems.
Outcomes: Successful selection, design, development/configuration, and implementation of business solutions to support a diverse set of end-user’s requirements and business processes; while simultaneously meeting the institutions strategic vision and goals. Delivery included the implementation of processes and supporting technologies for contact centre management, information technology service management, financial budgeting & reporting, service management, event planning, non-academic student activity and emergency management.
Technology: Genesys PureCloud, Hyperion Planning & Reporting, ServiceNow, and RallyEngine.
Methodology: Implementation partners typically used their own delivery approach (e.g. Scrum, Kanban, Lean, Waterfall, etc.). Worked within the vendors methodology to deliver solution; reported back to the PMO in the required waterfall manner.
