June 2004 to Present
Family Nurse Practitioner; Veteran’s Administration
Marion, Indiana
At the V.A., I have my own panel of patients in the primary care. I manage and treat the patient’s chronic problems and address acute issues as well. I order medications and tests, interpret results, diagnose, treat, and refer as needed. I also cover in the urgent care when needed.
July 2002 to June 2004
Family Nurse Practitioner; Decatur Vein Clinic
Fort Wayne, Indiana
At the vein clinic, I saw patients with the diagnosis of varicose veins and venous insufficiency. I treated the patients using ultrasound-guided sclerotherapy. I did diagnostic procedures and physical exams to establish the diagnosis and worked closely with insurance companies in explaining the procedure. I supervised the employees of the clinic and worked independently, with the physician available by phone if needed. I joined this company soon after its’ inception, and helped establish and set up the clinic.
May 2001 to July 2002
Family Nurse Practitioner and Clinic Manager; Clinic of Hope
Kokomo, Indiana
As a Family Nurse Practitioner at the Clinic of Hope, I saw indigent patients without any health insurance. Many of these patients had complex health issues and they all had social and financial issues as well. I saw mostly the adult population, with a great deal of women’s health and some obstetrics. The most frequent diagnoses I dealt with were diabetes, hypertension, and respiratory illnesses, as well as lifestyle issues. I reported directly to the Vice President of Patient Care Services. I was also responsible for the budget and compliance issues, as well as the day to day management of the clinic.
May 2000 to May 2001
Family Nurse Practitioner; Anderson Family Health Specialists
Anderson, Indiana
As a Family Nurse Practitioner at this facility, I saw a wide variety of patients, from the very young to the very old. I saw those with acute illness and collaborated with the physician in the care of chronic illnesses. I spent a large part of my time educating patients on their particular disease process and risk factor reduction, as well as health promotion.
June 1995 to May 2000
I worked as a registered nurse in a variety of capacities and departments at Marion General Hospital. I was a charge nurse and worked on the telemetry and intensive care units.
