EXPERIENCE

Nava PBC Washington, DC

Product Manager, cloud.cms.gov July 2019 – Present

cloud.cms.gov is the website for the enterprise cloud platform for the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services. The site is the point of entry for applications to migrate to the cloud and the technical, operational, and support center for those operating in the cloud.

Lead a cross-functional team of designers/researchers, content strategists, and engineers to set the site vision and the roadmap for iteratively accomplishing that vision, maintaining team alignment during implementation.

Collaborate with other teams across the program, responsible for creating the cloud platform and services offered as part of that platform, to define site features and customer content to meet team and program objectives.

Create OKRs and success metrics for cloud.cms.gov in context of enterprise, program, and customer-focused goals.

Set firm priorities for product and feature development based on business goals and customer priorities.

Influence and get buy-in from difficult stakeholders with competing priorities, and champion the work during program planning, implementation, and after delivery.

Define and leverage feedback loops from product releases to refine product vision and roadmap for subsequent development iterations.

Turned a troubled product into a high-value product by focusing on critical pain-points, prioritizing crucial work that was delayed in lieu of lower-value, but higher-visibility, features. Some examples include:

Deciding, based on technical product needs, to migrate to an API-first, common-sense content management system, resulting in a dramatic positive impact on engineering efficiency for a resource-strapped team.

Creating space for the team’s user experience designers to conduct and synthesize research ahead of planning, ensuring we put effort toward solving the right problems, and subsequently communicating the tangible value of that research.
