• Provides and manages direct patient care including physical examinations, evaluations, assessments, diagnoses and treatment for emergency department patients.
• Refers patients to specialists and to relevant patient care components as appropriate.
• Apply suture, do minor surgical procedures and splint as needed for the patients from the age 0 to 100 yrs..
• Manage patient with ranging from 2 to 5, (where 2 is complex sick patient who needs either ICU or specialty unit admission and 5 is simple as nail avulsion..
• Manages patients with acute exacerbation of chronic conditions, flulike symptoms, musculoskeletal pain, fracture, sprains, MVC, conjunctivitis, sore throat, pneumonia, hypertensive emergencies, PE, all kinds of cancer, abdominal pain, flare up autoimmune diseases, neutropenic fever, post and pre transplant patient, suicide, drug over dose, psychiatric emergencies ob/gyn issues including threatened miscarriage, preeclampsia, ectopic pregnancy dysfunctional bleeding STD, urological emergencies, assault, etc. Since the hospital is a teaching university hospital with medical school I am privileged to treat all the referral patients such as cystic fibrosis, ALS, MS, pulmonary HTN scleroderma, sickle cell etc.
• Precept and supervises NP and PA students engaged in specialty activities and procedures, as appropriate.
• Work as primary care provider at a family medicine clinic occasionally where I monitors and manages patients with HTN, DMII, hyperlipidemia, COPD, CHF, acne, CKD etc.
Equipment Skills Nurse Practitioner:
• Epic charting, Computer skills in MS office, telemedicine, excel, suturing, derma bonding, splinting, diagnostic paracentesis, Incision and drainage.
• Competent in applying standardized care guidelines in clinical practice.
• Maintain continuing education, quality improvement processes and peer reviews- including the systematic periodic review of records and treatment plans- while maintaining specialty and population-focused certification in compliance with current laws and regulations.
• Manage the daily operations of a specific medical program, patient care unit, or research function.
• Commended for the ability to be creative in handling emergencies, good judgment to make decisions in emergency, ability to perform several tasks together.
• Received the certificate of provider of the quarter of the emergency department where we have more than 40 providers including attending, residents, and Nurse practitioners and Physicians assistants.
