Class IX and X- Science and Social 2019-2020

Class X All subjects 2019

Bachelor of Science- Biochemistry Semester I, II 2016-2017 Presentations

1. Journal club: February, 2020

“Mithramycin A inhibits colorectal cancer growth by targeting cancer stem cells.” Description: Mithramycin-A consists of a tricyclic chromophore with two aliphatic side chains, made of trisaccharide and di-saccharide chains. It induces PARP and Cas-9 mediated cell Death, with concentration 0.1- 100umof Mit-A inhibit osteoclastic bone resorption invitro and inhibit cancer growth by cross-linking GC-rich DNA. 2. Seminar club: August, 2020

“Engineering smart hybrid tissues with built-In electronics” Description: There is a need of a technology that can integrate electronics with engineered tissues to collect data from within the tissue and report on it in real time. The integration of bio molecules with electronic elements such as electrodes, sensors, transistors etc., form multi- functional devices that may able to perform detection, monitoring of biological materials. They convert (bio) chemical information into electronic. Use of various approaches in the field of biomedical electronics implants has evolved from stiff implants to micro-Nano then to thin electronic meshes reaching to the size of a single cell and mechanical properties matching the soft tissue. These overcome the negative effect of foreign devices and its rejection from the body. Use of bionics has various advantages such as controllable lifetime, biodegradable, help diminish the scarcity in donor organs.

3. Project Presentation/viva: September, 2020

“From Waste to Regeneration: The osteogenic and chondrogenic potential of orange peel flavonoids in the treatment of osteoarthritis”

Osteoarthritis is the cause of joint pain, deformity and degeneration. It is caused by injury or loss of cartilage structure and function. Conventional therapies directed towards relieving pain. Mesenchymal stem have remarkable ability of self-renewal and differentiation into chondrocytes. Dietary orange peel flavonoids such as naringin, hesperidin exhibit anti- inflammatory, anti-oxidant, chondroprotective properties and enhances the differentiation and chondrogenic potential of MSCs. Thus, use of orange peel flavonoids with cell- based therapies and Nano-carrier provides sustain drug delivery, enhances osteointegration potential and thus may offer new opportunities and advantages in treatment of OA.
