Self-Introduction & Life Vision

It has been my dream to speak English fluently, so I came to the Philippines after graduating from middle school in Korea. I’ve heard a lot of good things about the Philippines as a country with beautiful islands and exotic travel destinations. However, upon starting my journey in the Philippines, I faced the reality of life in Manila and my experience from school was full of unexpected challenges. I had difficulties in understanding new languages, adapting to an unfamiliar environment, and interacting with people whose culture is different as of mine.

Despite the cultural differences, I did my best to adjust in my new home. I’ve learned to be more open and even introduced Korean culture to my Filipino friends and Teachers to get along with them. Since then, living in the Philippines has become easier as I started to develop and maintain good relationships with the locals.

The obstacles and struggles while in the Philippines have become my strength and stepping stones to appreciate the beauty living in a foreign land. During my college days taking up Hotel Restaurant Management course, I felt thankful that I was able to get a chance from immersion training in the school’s institutional hotel networking with Filipino colleagues. This experience has allowed me to know more about the working culture environment and get accustomed to the local place. Living in the Philippines has made me realize that it is essential to accept one’s cultural differences. It may not be as easy at first and the path to take might not be as smooth as expected, but as time goes on, life becomes more colorful and meaningful upon knowing and learning new wonderful things. Friendships and relationships are very important to survive in the world full of challenges. It is a gradual process and it takes acceptance and positivity to appreciate the beauty of a new discovery. Though my academic life has given me the opportunity to learn many things in the Philippines, but the reality of life experiences outside the four corners of the classroom has indeed helped me adapt to the new circumstances and made me what I have become now. I’ve grown and become more matured to accept the diverse cultures and learn the positive light in everything. As I continue my life’s journey, I am ready to take a huge step forward to pursue my passion and dreams. I am confident that I would be a valuable asset to where I belong. I thrive on going above and beyond to bring inspiration and make positive impact in the community.
