PROJECT DETAILS:

TITLE : MATERIAL SEGREGATION BY USING PNEUMATIC SYSTEM TEAM STRENGTH : 6 Members

PROGRAM USED : PROGRAMMABLE LOGIC CONROLLER (PLC)

ABSTRACT OF PROJECT:

• Rapid increase in volume and types of solid and hazardous waste due to continuous economic growth, urbanization and industrialization, is becoming a escalating problem for national and local governments to ensure effective and sustainable management of waste. The economic value of waste is best realized when it is segregated.

• The segregation, handling, transport and disposal of waste needs to be properly managed to minimize the risk to the health and safety of patients, public, and the environment. Hence the proposed project is designed to sort the refuse into metallic and non-metallic waste to minimize the human interface.

• The Material Segregation System using Pneumatics proposes the segregation of metal and non-metal waste into respective bins by employing DC Motor, Proximity sensor, Relay, Inductive proximity sensor, Capacitive proximity sensor mechanisms incorporated along the conveyor belt. In this system the metal material is recycled. A Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) is used as main component and proposed system is simulated using PLC software named as WPL software using Ladder diagram.

OBJECTIVE OF PROJECT:

• The purpose of this project is to segregate the metal and non-metal waste for the industrial and domestic use.

• Due to the environmental aspect as well as increasing prices for raw materials, scrap separation is a global topic. These benefits also categorized as to improved scrap management systems.
