LEADERSHIP

I was the President of my department’s student body, National Association of Mass Communication Students (NAMACOS). I was charged with the responsibility of overseeing the academic and social welfare of about three hundred students, representing their opinions to the appropriate authorities such as the Student Representative Council (SRC), final year committee and so on. I was also responsible for managing the activities of other executive members, members of committees and class representatives.

Prior to becoming President, I held the position of Assistant General Secretary of my department’s student body (NAMACOS). I was charged with the responsibility of drafting correspondence for events and programmes and also defend the content of the letters before certain individuals and panels.

I was also the class representative for my class. Serving in this capacity, I had to work with lecturers in coordinating in-class and out-of-class activities, ensure effective dissemination of information from lecturers to my colleagues and also represent and convey the opinion of my classmates to relevant authorities from time to time.

COMMUNICATION

I possess excellent writing skills. While I interned at Nigerian Tribune in 2018, I wrote various news stories which got featured in the dailies. As an undergraduate, I had the opportunity to make various class presentations and other presentations to University staff and I was once a keynote speaker at a College-wide event for fresh students. As a student leader, I was a contact person for multiple bodies and I had to respond to various complaints and resolve them speedily.

TEAMWORK

·As a Human Resource Intern at Nigerian Breweries Plc, I collaborated with other HR staff to conduct talent recruitment activities and ensure retention.

·I coordinated a group of about 35 individuals to plan and execute an “Anti-Substance Abuse campaign” in my school. An event/rally that attracted the attention and presence of the Vice Chancellor of the University.

·I actively participated in the organization of two TEDx Events in my University.

·I also volunteered for the first edition of LEAD Conference which held at Bowen University in 2018.

Serving in the above listed capacities have taught me the importance of team work and why people are an indispensable asset for many successful endeavours. Naturally, I imbibed a great sense of responsibility.

Interests

·I love to get involved in planning and executing projects and events I have interest in because these help me to hone my team spirit and efficiency. I am very teachable and also a fast learner so I leverage on this by gaining new knowledge at every available opportunity. I also enjoy engaging in and listening to thought provoking conversations, speeches and presentations. I also spend a lot of time engaging in purposeful reading.
