Offered comprehensive healthcare to address both acute and chronic medical needs according to standardized procedures and protocols. Identified medical emergencies, provided appropriate emergency care, and arranged for transfer to the nearest appropriate healthcare facility. Initiated treatment for inmates going through substance abuse withdrawal. Performed daily sick call in order to identify and treat acute health conditions promptly. Ordered and interpreted diagnostic tests such as labs, imaging studies, EKG and PFTs as needed. Deployed from May 2009 - May 2010 in support of Operation Enduring Freedom X as the sole medical provider for a Level 1 Aid Station in the Nangarhar Province, Afghanistan. Became a point-of-care laboratory supervisor and ensured that medics were trained and authorized to work in the lab, allowing the laboratory to remain open in the absence of a laboratory technician.
Recognized by supervising physician for developing an efficient way to screen a mass number of soldiers for medical conditions which might require a medical waiver to deploy; system was adopted as the standard for the 4th Infantry Division in 2009.
Implemented a phone line as a convenient alternative to sick call for soldiers, making medical care more accessible and minimizing work absences.
Completed a Pain Management and Tropical Medicine Course in order to broaden knowledge and improve outcomes for soldiers with these issues
