Under the engine cadet responsibilities in SSL KUTCH is imperative for an engine cadet to make efforts and learn the procedures for operating/ overhauling equipment and understand engine room watch-keeping in order to became a responsible and competent officer, ensuring safe operation of the ship as well as personal and crew safety.

Also assist Engineering Officers in maintaining the ship's main engines, and running and maintaining all mechanical equipment, including the operation and maintenance of pumps and fuel systems, electrical generating and distribution equipment, refrigeration, air conditioning plant, lifts, and cranes.

Also being part of the emergency response team to firefighting, to lifeboats.

Accomplishments

Advance firefighting (march 2018).

Advance first aid (march 2018).

Advance sea survival techniques, personal safety and social responsibility (march 2018).

Engine room simulator at operational level (April 2018).

Summary

I have always wanted to work on vessels within the merchant shipping industry to allow my knowledge to expand. I feel that this company would be perfect for me to undertake as I’m enthusiastic, hardworking and reliable. I always work to high standard, and with my current knowledge and skills, aim to be cost effective and aware of the environmental factors within my work which would be beneficial to this company.
