ACADEMIC PROJECTS

Software Development –

In a simulated Agile workflow environment, we were tasked to development an application that filled a need for University Students. We chose to develop a web application for verified students only could off load furniture and other items to other verified university students. We divided our group into a front-end and back-end teams. I was a part of the back-end team.

Technology/Methodology:

I worked mainly with Java development and some work in connecting to an SQL database. Testing edges cases using user stories and development of student verification.

Software Engineering –

In a simulated Agile workflow environment, we were tasked with developing a web application similar to that of Rotten Tomatoes.

Technology/Methodology:

Usage of Ruby on rails, GitHub and Heroku to develop the application and push to the internet. During the sprints I was introduced to BDD (Behavioral driven development), TDD(Test driven development), Saas(Software as a Service), as well as some cloud computing. In testing we used user stories to develop test cases for unit testing.

Digital Image Processing –

We were tasked to develop a program that we felt encompassed the majority of what we had learned during our course. I chose to develop a digit recognizer much like that of a license plate reader.

Technology/Methodology:

Python/Jupyter Notebook, some machine learning/data mining was used to teach the digits 0-9, A-Z, a-z. As well as the use of simple neural networks, SVM(Support vector machine) and KNN(K nearest numbers).

Computer Vision –

A Machine learning project in which we were tasked to train our program with a data set of playing cards in order for that program to differentiate between cards by identifying certain areas specific only to that type of card.

Technology/Methodology:

Matlab.

Mobile Robotics –

Using the TurtleBot 2 we were tasked with several mapping, path planning and sensor data processing assignments.

Technology/Methodology:

We used VirtualBox to run a modified distribution of ROS (Robot Operating System) on a Virtual Linux OS.
