March 2019 – July 2019 Final Year Project, Molecular Characterization of Trypanosome Species in the Skin and Adipose Tissues of Cattle in Navrongo. Under the Supervision of Dr. Theresa Manful Gwira, TMG Laboratory, University of Ghana and Dr. James Abugri, University for Development Studies.

Collection of skin and fat tissues of Cattle from the 5 major cattle farms and abattoirs in Navrongo.

Extraction and analysis of genomic DNA by centrifugation, electrophoresis and Polymerase Chain Reaction.

Recording findings and performing control experiments to validate findings.

Concluding that the trypanosome species were present at different percentages and more so in the adipose tissues as compared to the skin tissues due to biological and environmental factors. February 2018 – August 2018 Intern
