PROJECTS ANTICIPATED IN

A. Local Roads and Drainage Program

The Public Works Authority - Qatar (Ashghal) had planned to develop a new Local Roads and Drainage Program throughout Qatar (2012-2024).

The Program had divided into 5 zones: Qatar North with 24 projects, Qatar South with 8 Projects, Doha North with 63 projects, Doha South with 78 projects and Doha West with 34 projects. The purpose of the Program is to improve the local roads and drainage infrastructure throughout the country.

B. Expressways Program

It was one of the world’s largest road infrastructure projects in construction industry (2010-2020). Spread across 78 major projects, the Expressway Program delivered more than 800 kilometers of new or upgraded roads and more than 200 interchanges.

The Expressway Program network spans the entire State of Qatar, providing new north-south and east-west connections, connecting cities, ports, major expressways, and industrial areas. C. Sewage and Surface Ground Water Projects

1. The Doha South Sewage Infrastructure Project

It is one of the biggest sustainable drainage infrastructures throughout Qatar. It was comprising construction of:

• A 16 km long main trunk sewer divided into eastern, northern, and western segments.

• 11 shafts that was used to excavate the main tunnel.

• Seven lateral interceptor sewers that will convey flows from areas in the center of Doha to the main tunnel.

• The main trunk sewer which convey the sewage flows through pumping stations to the existing Doha south treatment works.

The project has won the prestigious ‘Good Rating’ by the Civil Engineering Environmental Quality Assessment and Award Scheme (CEEQUAL) and Engineering News Record (ENR)’s Global Best Project Award in the Wastewater Category, in recognition of its design innovation, outstanding health and safety performance, effective risk management and implementation of construction best practices. It is the first and lone project in the region that achieves the CEEQUAL Design and Build Award. Also, Construction of Doha North Sewage Treatment Works and Extensions of Doha West Sewage Treatment Works.

2. The Construction of Surface and Ground water drainage system Project (Greater Doha Area) Greater Doha is suffering from the rise of its ground water table. The purpose of this project is to reduce and eliminate flooding and lowering of ground water table at several Hot spot locations across Doha municipality. The project includes, Construction of Surface water networks, perforated pipe with gravel trench, Swales, surface storage covered (concrete) channels, Installation of Geo-cells.

D. Building Projects

Building Projects have included many of Educational Buildings, Health Centers, Governmental and Municipalities Buildings. All Buildings were designed and Built according to GSAS (Global Sustainability Assessment System) that is equivalent to LEED and BREEAM. FULL TIME JOBS

2. Water and Waste Treatment Plants Specialist/Manager – (08/1989 to 11/2009) Misr Beida Dyers Co., Egypt

• Conducting Quality Control tests on raw water, treated effluents, condensate steam and regeneration chemicals for ion exchange resins polishing plants.

• Planning and supervise implementing for preventive and corrective maintenance for steam boilers to prevent/remove scale formations.

• In 1998, Environmental Management Specialist had added to my job duties to prepare my company to comply with the newly issued Egyptian Environmental Law (4/1994).

• Prepare, maintain, and implement Environmental management plan for the overall industrial facilities.

• In 1999, I had participated in EP3 (Environmental Pollution Prevention Program)-USAID Project in Rehabilitation of production units to get comply with the new regulations.

• In 2000, I had participated in SEAM/ENTEC Project. During my work with the Public Works Authority in the State of Qatar, I was nominated by my manager to participate in the preparation of the country's national development strategies and as a member of the subcommittees to prepare Qatar's construction specifications: 1. Qatar's construction specifications 2014.

Head of the subcommittee team to update Section-7 “Green Construction”. 2. Qatar's construction specifications 2019.

Head of the subcommittee team to update Section-7 “Green Construction” and introducing new specifications regarding sustainable infrastructure. Also, a new Section has been introduced, Section 32, Environmental Management in Infrastructure Projects. 3. National Development Strategy (NDS) 2010-2016.

National Development Strategy is a phased plan towards implementing Qatar Vision 2030. I was a member in one of subcommittees teams, Natural Resources Team, Treated Sewage Effluents management subcommittee team.

4. National Development Strategy (NDS) 2018-2022.

In this NDS, I have participated in two subcommittees teams, Economic infrastructure team, we have dealt with Solid waste management and recycling in construction projects. And a member in Natural resources team, in which we have focused in Energy and water efficient use and water recycle and renewable energy as well.
